Barn kitties (or indoor) looking for new homes (moms are scheduled to be spayed). Around 9 weeks old. Flea & tick treated. FREE * located here at the building and can send them with a carrier or Ashley can deliver from Wayland to Washington.

Currently 18 available, mostly boys. There are a couple solid black girls and an orange/white adult female

We know not everyone will see our facebook posts but it is the quickest way to help answer some frequently asked questions

The weather is going to get hot and we know it's hard to plan around vacations and the busy summer but we are 4 WEEKS out for grooming.

**We have no grooming open till mid July

Our boarding throughout the whole summer is also getting booked up so plan early for State Fair and Labor Day.

**We are full for boarding for every weekend in June & July. Also the first weekend in August.

Some exciting stuff happening!!!

Today and tomorrow we will be getting our driveway done. If you need to come in for grooming/boarding please use the grass driveway just North of the building to park.

It is marked with red posts and a yellow sign (along with the parked cars)

The parking lot will be useable on Wednesday :)

Do we believe in microchipping?

100% YES!!!

No one plans on losing their pet but uncontrollable things happen.

* Car Accident
* Tornado
* Cat is curious for .2 seconds, bolts out the door
* UPS driver leaves the gate open

Things happen and a microchip is one way to help your pet return home

Not only do we microchip but so does Paws & More Shelter in Washington and most vet clinics

Our boarding throughout the whole summer is also getting booked up so plan early for State Fair and Labor Day.

4th of July week is ALMOST full as well

Graduation time is very hectic so don't forget about your pets! Whether you are needing to go out of town or have family coming in for a party, scheduling early for boarding/grooming will just get another thing checked off your list :)

If you have received a microchip from us please check occasionally that the info is current.

We have quite a few pups/cats who have come in that don't have their chip registered yet. If your dog is a purebred/has papers, their microchip number is DIFFERENT than their AKC/registration number. Microchips are BLANK until registered.

*Microchips that we use are through www.AKCReunite.org and are 15 numbers long

No one ever plans on their pup wandering off and accidents happen everyday. Maybe they see a rabbit, a car accident happens and they take off, heaven forbid someone actually steals your animal. A microchip is just another precaution to help keep your pet safe. Dog or Cat.

There are 3 ways to register the microchip from us.

1. With us here at the building.

2. Register their chip the same time as their AKC paperwork (for AKC purebreds ONLY)

3. At www.AKCReunite.org and do it online. You can also updated their info and picture here.

Our summer/weekend high school staff is a crucial part of Ashley's Boarding and nothing is better than them being well rounded in sports, school and the community.

This weekend WACO put on a play of Sherlock Holmes and we LOVED watching Ella (right) and Levi (left) do amazing in their parts :D

4 weeks

We are 4 WEEKS out for grooming. We will stay like this from now till September so please schedule early, especially when hot weather hits.

HOLIDAYS are booking up like crazy for boarding too. Memorial weekend is ALMOST full and we have plenty of people getting on the books for 4th of July and Labor day weekend.

While we were closed for a week in January, our south boarding wing was getting a nice floor makeover.
These floors have in floor heat and get alot of wear and tear. We look forward to doing our north wing January 2025

SPRING BREAK! Sorry but we are now full from March 8th - 17th.

Please book early if you have weekend graduation plans in May. Same goes for any vacations and weddings already scheduled for this summer.

Groomings are booking up fast as well and expect to be 3 weeks out. We have nothing till March 5th or after.

Does Iowa require rabies vaccine for dogs?

RABIES. Iowa law requires that an initial rabies vaccine be administered by a veterinarian. Puppies and kittens receive a 1-year vaccine for their first rabies shot. The following year, they are eligible to receive their 3-year rabies vaccine.

If you are even 1 day late with your pets vaccinations they must get them done the next year. It is better to be early so you pet can get on a 3 year schedule.

If you would like to board or groom with us your pet must be current on rabies & distemper/parvo AND we must have the records for it.

Kennel Cough (Bordetella) is highly recommended but is not required by us as we do not offer doggy day care.

Also since we don't offer doggy day care your pet does NOT have to be fixed to stay with us.

Healthy Paws Vet Care is now at the former Henry County Vet Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, IA (Dr. Howie's)

Dr. Ruth Schinstock took over Sept. 1st, 2023 and is VERY active in spaying/neutering and can typically get you in the same week you call.

NOW is the time to fix your kitties if you don't want spring time litters and she always has some cats and dogs she is adopting out if you are looking for a new furry friend :)

She is also the Henry County pound so if you are missing a pet this is a GREAT place to check.

Hello Everyone! I (Ashley) have been gone all week on a family vacation and my wonderful staff has been here taking excellent care of our current boarding puppers. Chelsey has been a great kennel manager and helps with our secretary spot.
*A special shoutout to Ella who braved the winter weather yesterday and today. The doggos aren't going to feed and let themselves out for a potty break

Matt with Roder Epoxy has also been here doing a fantastic floor job to our south boarding wing.

Speaking of weather, I am currently going through all of our messages and trying to get caught up as many are looking to cancel and reschedule for next week. With road conditions cancelling your grooming is not a bad thing but we are looking at Feb 5th or after to reschedule.

New stuff for Christmas? Not sure what to do with some of your old replaced items?

We are ALWAYS looking for towels/blankets/bed sheets & used collars. Buy a brand new bag of dog food just for your pup to decide they don't like it OR find out they are allergic to it? We will take it!!

Feel free to drop off during our open hours and say Hi :) or leave it at the front door and we will take it in :)

Even though toys are always fun to get your pup or kitten do you already have to many? Not sure what else to get them for Christmas?

Here are 4 options most don't think as Christmas gifts

1. Microchip * the gift of a microchip can help your baby come back home, everyday we see lost pets without chips looking for their people

2. Dental Cleaning * checked your dog's teeth lately? This may be the cause of stinky breath. Please take 10 seconds to look at your dogs/cats teeth and if need be, schedule a dental cleaning with your vet

3. Spay/Neuter * winter time is a great time to get your pet fixed if they aren't already! Summer is a busy time to squeeze this in and we have to many accidental litters around as is. Spring is known kitten season so get them fixed before an oops happens :)

4. Nail Trims * for those who stop doing haircuts during the winter months please take time to check nails. Those pesky dew claws can get ingrown quickly

Starting January 1st 2024 boarding prices will increase

We also wanted to take a minute and talk about the difference between boarding and doggy day care as they are 2 separate things.

Boarding is what we do. We do NOT do doggy day care. The difference is day care allows the intermingle of pets.
When your pet stays with us they can't be out with other pets.

Will we change this in the future?
Right now we do not plan on adding doggy day care. Why?

Doggy day care requires an additional state license. It also requires additional staff. It requires your pet to be fixed if they are over 6 months old. It requires more space than what we have.
Space wise we would have to either get rid of half our boarding kennels (to have a free roam indoor space) or to build another building.

We hope this answers some questions and we look forward to taking care of your pets for many years to come 🙂

Full for Grooming! We have NO open grooming slots till after Christmas 🎄

We are FULL for boarding from Friday Dec. 22nd - Tues Dec. 26th and are almost full for New Year's Weekend as well.

Please book early if you are needing us for State Wrestling/Basketball & Spring Break or if you already have planned summertime vacations/weddings/events 😃

There will be NO grooming January 6th - 14th and we will have very limited boarding during this time as we do some upgrading.

We just posted a couple days ago about a family who lost their kitty and with some great leads he was caught this morning and held till I could pick him up. His family is having us microchip him and he will be picked up tonight
