Lost Pet and Livestock Recovery

Thank you for reaching out to Lost Pet Drone Recovery. We hope you never have to use our services but if you do below is some information to help you make an educated decision as to hire us or not also attached is our fee for our service we provide.
1. Thermal drones are a GREAT tool in the winter/cool season when there is no foliage on the trees
2. Thermal drones are NOT a great tool during the summer months or when there is heavy foliage on the trees, we can still do open areas well but wooded areas we would not recommend a thermal drone.
3. Call us sooner than later after your pet goes missing or has been seen, time is a difference maker.
4. Calling days after your pet has gone missing without any sightings, our services are not recommended, we will still go if you wish but understand our chances are very low.
5. We don’t fly our thermal drones on sunny days, you can’t do an adequate job in sunny conditions.
6. We can and do fly a lot of night flights the months that there is no foliage on the trees and that take place in the country.
7. Thermal drones are a tool not a guarantee you will find your pet.
8. We will NEVER ask for money before we arrive if anyone does, they are not associated with us and are almost guaranteed to be a scam. NEVER give anyone money before showing up or to someone who says they found your pet and need money for vet expenses. These are common scams that are out there.
9. All Michigan Dronedogs pilots are licensed pilots
10. If you still have questions after reading this feel free to reach out to anyone of us with questions

Pricing

$150.00 Gets you up to three sets of batteries roughly 1 1/2 hours of flight time.
They’re after $30.00 per set of batteries roughly 1/2 hour of flight time per set.
Excessive mileage/travel time from pilot’s location will be an additional cost that will be discussed beforehand on a case by case bias.

This is one of the saddest post I will probably make about tracking. We got a call to use the drone to look for a injured horse that had been missing a couple days. Unfortunately, I had to let the owner know that if the horse is in the woods the drone won't be able to see through the foliage right now. We will do our best and we will bring our dog Oakley out also. Normally, our dogs won't track missing animals because they are tracking the distress scent but if it's injured... maybe Oakley will track it. We decided to start at 5:30am when the woods are cooler and easier for the drone. After flying for 1.5hrs it was clear that the horse was not in any open areas. All we can do is let Oakley have a chance to help us. We let her walk around inside the horse pen to get as much scent as possible. Once we reached to the broken area of the fence, Oakley was clearly leading the way and tracking with confidence. I was getting concerned about the condition of the horse with the many beds Oakley found along the way. At one point, we had about a 60 yard backtrack that Oakley worked out, before I looked ahead and my heart sunk! Oakley had found the horse, but unfortunately, it had passed away from it's injures. I've never been so sad to find a animal. I'm glad to have helped and put closer to the owner. I understand what pets mean to people! This track was about 52 hrs old by the time we put Oakley on it. I'm very glad my wife Julie was with me on this track to help share all the great things a tracking dog can do and being able to truly help people.

Last Friday we got a call from the Sand Lake area to look for a 11 month old Golden Retriever. Conditions were right "Cloudy along with a lot of fields in the area so we gave it a shot. Summer time is very difficult for thermal but in the right conditions we can get it done.

We want to wish everyone a great memorial weekend! Also especially to everyone traveling/camping, keep a close eye on your pets. I'm sure there will be some fireworks and that can be terrifying to pets.
I hope nobody needs our help this weekend but if you do, don't hesitate to reach out asap.

It truly breaks my heart to have to make this post.
Unfortunately, this is the world we live in now. There are so many scammers out there that can and do feed on honest peoples emotions and desperation.
I saw a post tonight from an owner that had lost their pet. Someone is telling them that a neighbor has it and that they gave the person money for dog food. Now this person wants repaid for the food before they give details.
They won't meet in person and want the owner to send them the money.
Unfortunately, this is absolutely a scam!
It's sad that owners would have to deal with this in their time of desperation, but it absolutely is happening!
Be very careful, if something doesn't sound right, chances they aren't.
At Lost Pet Drone Recovery Service , we are pet owners as well, and we will strive to give realistic expectations. We will put in our best efforts to help reunite you with your loved pet!
Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Since the last post we have recovered 4 more dogs, I must say the rush we get when we’re able to help families is absolutely incredible.
I know I said in our last post I’m going to get better at keeping an updated page and yes I know it’s been slow coming. We are in the process of making some behind the scene changes that will be a game changer for us. First and foremost we have added another pilot from the Lansing/St Johns area and have one more coming in a few more weeks as well. Our goal is to have the three of us share regular educational information on our fb page along with filming our recoveries and editing up the footage to show on our FB page. This is however a work in progress so just bear with us. In the next day or so Dave from Lansing/St Johns will be introducing himself. I heard he was going to share a story and footage from one of his tracks last week.
Till next time keep those pets safe.

Sorry for doing such a bad job of keeping up with our FB page, We have been busy but on a no find streak the last week. It’s so key to get on these animals as quicklyas possible. Though we did have one yesterday we just couldn’t locate she was hiding under bushes next to a house and we passed over her a few times and after we left she was found. So many things have to go right but when they do it’s worth all the time and effort we put into it. To date we have 9 dogs and 1 cow recovered. We probably have another month before the heavy follage comes out once that happens our job will become much much harder. But that won’t stop us from at least trying.

A short video clip of what a thermal drone can do, last week we had to locate a cow, the first 45 seconds of the video is what it looks like without thermal the last 45 seconds is the same exact clip in thermal. The rider had a light on the top of his head thinking we needed that to follow him but with thermal that's not the case. Thermal technology is incredible as you can see BUT what we are looking for has to be where we are looking so this is why it's so time sensitive to call as soon as you think you have a problem.

When is it best to use a thermal drone to locate your lost pet? or should I say what does thermal bring to the table. I understand pet owners will do most anything to find their lost pet and sometimes just don’t think clearly when feeling desperate. I’m just trying to educate when and when not a thermal drone is the right choice and what is the right choice for your situation.
In my opinion a thermal drones is hard to beat for a same day tool the pet goes missing or a “Confirmed Sighting” and getting there that day. Thermal can cover a lot of area quickly it’s a lot like when the police try and set up a perimeter I’m trying to do the same thing with my drone. Once your pet is out a few days there is no perimeter, yes a drone can still work but is much less affective. There are more effective options when your a few days or several days out. A quality trapper is hard to beat the work they do is short of incredible along with the power of social media getting the word out is key.

A few things to know about thermal

CONS
1. Once foliage is on the trees we become less affective
2. Sunny days are close to a waste of time when using thermal
3. There are some no fly zones

Pros
1. Thermal can run in the dark as long as you have a spotlight to identify
2. Can cover ground at a blistering pace
3. Can check areas that are not accessible by walking

Hope this helps when making your decision. Keep In mind we are always willing to help but just wanted to educate everyone as to what to expect when calling on us.

We were busy at it again tonight. Our first night time find. This girl didn’t want to be found. She was hunkered down in the brush and was not coming to nobody.
