Last Friday we got a call from the Sand Lake area to look for a 11 month old Golden Retriever. Conditions were right "Cloudy along with a lot of fields in the area so we gave it a shot. Summer time is very difficult for thermal but in the right conditions we can get it done.
Here is video watching her
Zoey was found a half mile away from last sighting with thermal drone. I kept an eye on her and sent people in to catch her. Zoey did not want anything to do with that and ran off. I was not able to relocate her that night. We tried again Sunday evening with no luck, Zoey was live trapped Monday morning near this same spot, and has been returned to her family.
When people go in to catch a scared dog, they need to move very slow and get close to ground, they should have very smelly food or treats to coax the dog to come to them. Some dogs will need to be live trapped, you just don’t know until you try. Glad she is home!
A short video clip of what a thermal drone can do, last week we had to locate a cow, the first 45 seconds of the video is what it looks like without thermal the last 45 seconds is the same exact clip in thermal. The rider had a light on the top of his head thinking we needed that to follow him but with thermal that's not the case. Thermal technology is incredible as you can see BUT what we are looking for has to be where we are looking so this is why it's so time sensitive to call as soon as you think you have a problem.
