ned, displaced, or otherwise homeless, fluffy, small-breed dogs, primarily Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apsos. We also operate a Forever Foster “sanctuary” program where dogs may live out their natural lives, if adoption is not possible due to age, health, or behavior. We are headquartered in South East Michigan and our dogs are fostered in private homes across the US. We currently adopt within the continental US (subject to applicable regulations for the import of dogs) and offer free transport by air (in cabin) or road to most out-of-state adopters. ☘️ Weight Loss Journey of Carraig South-Carolina, a morbidly obese mini Australian Shepherd in rescue ☘️

After his recent bladder stone surgery, sweet Carraig, our morbidly obese mini Aussie, developed an infection that made recovery more challenging, but a drain was placed which helped him heal faster. He is now back on track with his weight loss journey. 💚☘️

Thanks to the incredible care and dedication of his FM Nicole, and the guidance and support from a veterinary nutritionist, Carraig is moving safely toward his goal weight of 16 to 18 pounds. He is down to about 34 pounds now from 38.8 pounds, even with minimal activity while his incision healed.

We are so grateful to FM Nicole and everyone who has stepped up with generous donated medical services, including Dr. Yeates and Rescued in SC, to give Carraig this chance at a healthier, more comfortable life. Every small step forward is possible because of their care and kindness.

Puppy Pup-Date – Grady South-Carolina 💚☘️

Grady, one of the four Gwennettes, is now Jasper and living his best life with Mom Carol and Dad Randy in Florida. He is a lively little boy, energetic, playful, and just happy all around. By the way, he is the puppy with the alternating horizontal black and white stripes (see photo).

Observing him and his littermates, we can see that they all enjoy life, play hard, and rest hard.

Here is what Carol, his Mom, says:

"Jasper is a very precious addition to our family! He loves to love and be loved!!
He loves everyone, and zoomies and playing with his toys are his favorite things!
He and his Pekingese brothers are still a work in progress!! He is a puppy and loves to play! Cappy and Alfie are much older and laid back! But, they are working it out! You can tell they love one another!
He has been to the Vet and gotten his final puppy shots and will be neutered in September!
He has been to the groomer twice! We took him the second time to have him cut a little shorter! His fur was to thick and long!
One of Jasper’s favorite things is going “bye bye”!
We have been blessed with the best! Our Jasper!"

It makes our hearts so happy to see Jasper so loved and right where he belongs. 💚

Miss Cara California, our paralyzed Shih Tzu in rescue, is drifting off to sleep with her medications on board. ☘️💚

Thanks to the generosity of a donor who has followed her journey since the very beginning, we recently refilled all her scripts [thankfully right before our funds were frozen in the chargeback debacle].

🚨 PSA - SCAMMERS LURKING. BEWARE. THEY DO NOT HAVE DOGS. DO NOT SEND YOUR MONEY. 🚨

A reminder to stay away from scammers pretending to have dogs for adoption or sale who come to pages like ours to either invite you to join their groups, or send you direct messages.

➡️ See photos below as examples. They commented on our page. It is all a scam!

STAY VIGILANT please. They have no dogs and are scammers who want your money. Some are quite aggressive and forceful, we have heard.

We do our part to protect you. Please help yourself by never engaging with such comments. No legitimate group would behave in this manner!

Guinness, now Gimli, is one of our recently adopted Shih Tzu puppies who were born in rescue. Look at how confident he is at barely 5 months old! Well socialized, friendly and a good boi!

☘️ Let us kickstart our post-adoption puppy pupdates with Guinness South-Carolina, now called Gimli.

Gimli was one of the four Gwennettes, a litter of Shih Tzu puppies born in rescue on 02/12.

He is now thriving in his forever home. We will let his wonderful mom, Jenaia, take it from here:

"Gimli is such a bright curious and bouncy boy! He is doing wonderfully and experiencing a lot of firsts including most recently his first haircut! He has a wonderful veterinarian and is very much loved at the clinic.

It took a couple weeks, but his new big sister Junie started playing with him. She was a bit unsure in the beginning and just needed time to adjust to the new “baby”. They are a lot of fun together.

He is still learning his manners around the cats, boundaries are still a work in progress . He will go potty outside and on pads when left out.

Gimli is so bubbly and outdoing with anyone he meets. We went to a dog bar that requires all dogs be vaccinated and that provides a safe and controlled environment. We felt good letting him socialize and make friends in the small dog/intro yard.

Last week, he met my bosses tortoise! We will be doing puppy class in the next few weeks which will be good for his learning and development. I will keep in touch!"

💚 We are so happy to see Gimli living life to the fullest. He is soaking up new adventures, learning every day, and bringing so much joy to his family.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. A Home Visit is also an integral part of our screening process.

Adoption donations reflect the white-glove care and veterinary attention we provide to all our dogs and are used to offset direct animal costs for the rescue as a whole.

Cheer squad, for the sake of transparency and to show what really goes on behind the scenes that few ever see, we want to share what happened last week.

There is a saying that when it rains, it pours. We already told you about the debacle of trying to do things the right way with California and how that blew up in our faces. Now, here is another headache we never asked for.

On May 29th, we received an abrupt email from PayPal about a chargeback for a significant amount, marked as an unauthorized transaction. Imagine our shock when we realized this was a voluntary donation, specifically given for one of our dogs. Instantly, PayPal froze every dollar in our account up to that donation amount. Their policy gives twenty-four hours to either issue a refund or submit evidence. We submitted the evidence immediately and contacted the donor, who then remembered they had used their card through our payment gateway, PayPal and confirmed it was absolutely not unauthorized. They called their bank or card company to cancel the chargeback right away.

And yet, as is so often the case, the bank or card company does not care that the donation was willingly given. They have their timeline, their process, and they will drag their feet while we are stuck holding the bag. Meanwhile, our funds are frozen, bills still come due, and there is no one to escalate to or reason with. This mess could easily drag on for weeks while we scramble to cover costs that have to be paid.

So there you have it. When one does rescue, one does not just deal with defamers, stalkers, harassers, fake friends, attention seekers, and liars. One also battles pointless administrative nonsense like this that makes a reasonable person wonder why one keeps going. But we do keep going, for the sake of the dogs.
