Many people think that leash pulling is something they just have to tolerate. It causes them to dread, or worse yet avoid, the walk. Please don't let your dog pull you along. Today is National Dachshund Day! It is celebrated on June 21st because it's the Summer Solstice, which is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Dachshunds are the longest dog breed in proportion to their size. Our models are Luigi and Meadow, 2 recent AFDT graduates.

The scientific research overwhelmingly demonstrates that shock leads to or contributes to fear, pain, aggression, panic and stress when compared to positive reinforcement training. She's smiling big for the camera as we finished our final lesson last week. Gracie needed to work on recall in the backyard, where she tracks every bird, squirrel and leaf! We found some great ways to bring her in. As always, repetition and consistency are key!

Reactive dog walks beautifully

Charlie graduated from Advanced Obedience training yesterday. He and his people worked hard and made great progress. He truly earned his Good Doggie bandana!

Maverick graduated from advanced obedience training!

Here’s a short video of Maverick practicing during his last lesson at a very busy park. Tommy put Maverick in a down/stay while he walked pretty far away and Karly (mom) even distracted Maverick. He waited for the come command and came running. Way to go, Maverick! (And Tommy and Karly)

Congrats to Gus & his family for completing Advanced Obedience with High Distraction training! The video shows Gus at a busy park (I tried to scan over to the kids playing nearby) acing his sit/stay/come. Way to go!
