These lucky dogs got a second chance by Project Freedom Ride this morning! They're on their way to the Pacific Northwest for find their forever homes!

We are so thankful for our rescue partners who are able to move some of these adults out of the shelter and onto better lives!

UPDATE: KARMA CAME HOME!!

KARMA has been missing since yesterday from her home on Edward's Rd between Blythe Rd and Heph-Keysville Rd. She's a large, spayed female last seen wearing a purple break-away collar. Her mom is ugly crying and just wants her home!

UPDATE: ARIEL HAS BEEN TAGGED FOR RESCUE BY Project Freedom Ride! She should be leaving the shelter on Wednesday for her long cross country trip to a brighter future!

Ariel would love to have a family to call her own this Christmas! 🤶

She was adopted from us a puppy in October of 2023 but brought back to us as a stray in October of 2024. Despite having owner contact information, our efforts to reunite them with Ariel went unsuccessful. We wish we knew how she wound up as a stray in Burke County when her owner lives in Richmond county, but no matter how much we ask Ariel, she refuses to tell us. 😊

Ariel reminds us of a little fox. She's got the most beautiful red chestnut coat, a bushy little tail and the cutest face mask. She's smaller in stature but big in personality. Ariel is still all puppy. She's energetic and fun and would love to have another doggie brother or sister to play with.

Zippy needs a home for the holidays. 🎅 He was adopted from us when he was a pup but his owner fell on very bad times and her family brought him back to us. We have since caught him up on his vaccines, he tested negative for heartworms and intestinal parasites and we had him neutered. Zippy is an active dog who would benefit from a large yard and lots of play time. Once he's gotten his energy out, he likes to cuddle too. He's good with kids and other dogs who match his energy level!

We had an amazing adoption event at the even more amazing Scott Family Farm Holiday Market! It was a chilly start to the day but the sun warmed us, and the 7 pets we brought with us, quickly! We are happy to report that all 3 puppies and 4 kittens found homes for the holidays!!

We have more adoptables here at the shelter. We would LOVE to be able to clear our adoptable kennel for Christmas!

Thankful that Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue is always willing to help an animal in need. Please consider donating so that they can continue to provide medical assistance to our injured intakes.

HE WAS FOUND CAUGHT IN A INHUMANE SNAP TRAP..
OLD FELLA PULLED HIM FROM THE POUND IMMEDIATELY IN ORDER TO SAVE HIS LIFE.
DONATIONS ARE THE ONLY WAY WE CAN CONTINUE TO HELP ANIMALS.
HE IS CURRENTLY AT BURKE COUNTY ANIMAL
HOSPITAL…AND HAS BEEN STITCHED UP💕💕

We were called yesterday afternoon to pick up this little lady as she was running around the new Roundabout on Lover's Lane. If she belongs to you, proof of ownership and payment of impound fees are required to reclaim.

We welcomed students from Ogeechee Technical College's Veterinary Technology program this morning to learn about goats! These students are gaining valuable experience with our shelter pets and our pets benefit from the vaccinations, health checks, and laboratory work that they provide. Today's patients, Bunny and Claude are owned goats and not for adoption!

It happened Tuesday — on the coldest night of the year. Thankfully, these puppies were rescued and brought to the shelter. Now, Animal Services wants to make sure they find a good home.
