Byne Blueberry Farms

Byne Blueberry Farms Byne Blueberry Farms is a grower of organic blueberries. We also have a special blueberry product l After graduating, Dick Byne, father Ed Byne, Dr. Ed Byne Jr.
(3)

Drive down Hwy 24 West in Burke County past some dusty dirt roads and farm land, and you’ll come to a family operated hand-harvested blueberry farm bordered by Rocky Creek and Story Mill Road. The Byne Blueberry Farm started in 1980 when Dick Byne planted 15 acres of blueberries on land passed down through the Byne family for five generations. While attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College,

Dick dreamed of having his own farming business. and beloved mentor Roosevelt Chance helped him decide on planting blueberries. He started an organic blueberry farm before organic was even in the American vocabulary. Byne disagreed with the progressive trend to spray his crop with pesticides and herbicides. The blueberries started out as a pick your own operation, but as Byne realized the health benefits and demand for the super fruit, he looked for new avenues to sell his crop. As time passed Byne’s family grew and so did the business. As his four daughters Diane, Janie, AnnNell, and Marian grew up, they began helping their mother Linda pick and pack the berries. It is Dick Byne’s belief that without Linda and the girls, the business would not have succeeded as it has. Dick Byne constantly dreams up new ways to use blueberries in all types of products.

Nashville School Shooting

We wanted to let all our friends and family know that the school shooting that happened earlier today was right down the road from the school that our Diane teaches. The students that had to be bused to a safe facility were taken to the school where Diane teaches.

Please pray for all the students and faculty that were injured or traumatized due to the shooting as well as the family of the shooter.

Thank you for all of your prayers, calls, and texts. We serve an AMAZING GOD!!!

Hello Everyone. We hope you have been having a great week and are looking forward to a wonderful weekend. What does everyone have planned??

We just wanted you to see what has been happening here on the farm. The picture below is of some of our beautiful and busy beehives. Just like we are preparing for fall and cooler weather, so are the bees. With all the goldenrod and other varieties of plants blooming our bees are constantly in and out of their hives.

Here are a few fun facts about bees and honey:

1. Bees don't want to sting you because they die.
2. All worker bees are female.
3. A bee produces a teaspoon of honey (about 5 grams) in her lifetime.
4. To produce a kilogram of honey, bees fly the equivalent of three times around the world in air miles.
5. The type of flower the bees take their nectar from determines the honey's flavor.
6. The bee is the only social insect to be partially domesticated by humans.
7. To get more bees in your garden grow more color. Bees love blue.
8. Bees love cluster plants like lavender and rosemary.
9. To make one pound of honey, the bees in the colony must visit 2 million flowers, fly over 55,000 miles, and will be the lifetime work of approximately 768 bees
10. Honey is 80% sugars and 20% water.

We hope you have a great weekend!!

Good Morning from The Blueberry Farm. How are you this Friday Morning? Just thought I would bring you some of the AWESOME benefits of honey.

1. Honey Is “Less Bad” Than Sugar for Diabetics
2. High-Quality Honey, like our BYNE BLUEBERRY FARM RAW HONEY, is Rich in Antioxidants
3. The Antioxidants in honey can Help Lower Blood Pressure
4. Honey Also Helps Improve Cholesterol and Lower Triglycerides
5. Honey has antibacterial and antiviral properties which help to aid in wound healing, relieving coughs and helps relieve certian allergies.

Of course the best honey in our opinion is our Raw Honey. If you are in need of some and are local here in the Waynesboro area be sure to stop by Pineland Bakery, Wagon Barn Market or Pecan Row to pick up a jar. We proud to be are a Pollinator Habitat here at Byne Blueberry Farms. What is that you ask? A pollinator habitat is an area with a variety of flowering plants that provide food and nesting space for all pollinators in the area.

We have planted different kinds of plants that will feed the bees and butterflies during the winter months.

Never forget

Today, we weep with those who weep. We remember the precious lives lost on September 11, 2001, we pray for all those who mourn, and we honor those who still serve our country today. Together, we wait for the day ultimate healing will come.⁣

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

The softest of soft openings tonight in the Marietta Square. When we opened our first shop in Downtown Woodstock almost 5 years ago (😳) we didn’t know what to expect. It was Cody, my Mom, and I running around trying to not die.

Tonight, we had our amazing team, our friends, and our vendors come by for pie and coffee in our second retail location. This is the first time we served people in our own shop in Marietta..and it felt really good.

Our official opening date is soon. Newsletter folks will hear more tomorrow. For now, know that none of us will get any sleep tonight because our Marietta Shop Manager, Abby, made and tested 1000 cappuccinos to get them just right for you.

We cannot wait to see you and serve you pie and warm memories in the Marietta Square. Soon, pie friend. Real soon.
