Hey y’all! Just a little intro to BCMMR! I am brand new to the rat breeding community, but I am not new to raising rats! I have had rats as pets intermittently throughout my life, starting in my childhood…..always the pet store variety with questionable health and temperament. 😅
My kiddos’ friend got a pet rat for her birthday and they fell in love. By this point they were old enough, and showed enough responsibility for us to dive into getting some rat babies as family pets. Our love for them has just continued to grow! To the point that we want to contribute to the community with rats that are intentionally bred for health (we test our colony and only buy from breeders who also test), temperament, and least importantly, but the most intriguing: luxury coats and colors!
Meet Mabel. She is our initiating female for our colony and will be the first to be bred. She has an amazing temperament, passed our health serum testing, and has a beautiful, ideal type. She is agouti and stems from a long line of agoutis, and therefore a great baseline female for us to start our program!
