❤️Donation Update❤️
Sarah and Dale made it back safely from North Carolina and wanted to share a few highlights from their trip!
We weighed the truck and camper before we loaded donations, to get an accurate weight for the trip. We hit the CAT scale late Sunday night only to find out the Waynesboro Veterinary Clinic collected 1 TON (2,205 lbs) of donations from our local communities!
We made it to Murphy, NC, where we stayed at a local KOA. Apon arriving, we found a few places in the local community who knew of surrounding towns that were hit very hard, displacing humans, animals, homes and properties due to the flooding.
Our first stop was to deliver water, some canned goods, dry goods, blankets, towels, first aid, and a few animal supplies to a local community college that will take the donations to the surrounding towns of Asheville that were destroyed and slightly over looked. They will deliver the supplies to 2 communities in that area, to help people and animals in need.
Our second day we delivered all the pet food to a local animal shelter. The shelter planned to give the donations to the people in the mountains, who were also affected by the flooding. The volunteers at the animal shelter were in disbelief with the truck bed full of donations. They thanked us and the Waynesboro community for being so generous.
We were put into contact with a local food bank that was accepting donations. The food bank was very grateful for the donations as their supplies had been destroyed by the flood. The OVER LOAD of donations that WVC collected, will help hundreds of families.
Everyone that we met was very thankful and felt relieved from the amount of donations they recieved. They could not thank the Waynesboro community enough for their generosity. So far, we know that our donations were able to help at least 5 communities. But there are several more that the animal shelter and food bank will help.
Thank you to everyone that was able to contribute! WE MADE A DIFFERENCE! Our community made a MASSIVE impact in NC!
