Brand new! This yarn is a brushed Suri alpaca DK with a silk core. It’s wonderfully snuggly like super soft kittens or alpacas 🤷‍♀️

90% Baby Suri Alpaca, 10% silk

246yds per 100g.

The yarn takes the dye well and speckles spread softly.

I made two swatches with size 7 & 8 needles on size 7 the fabric is lovely and holds its shape, on 8 the drape is super nice. Something to play with! This is a great yarn for those who can’t tolerate mohair.

Gauge on 7 is 16sts and 28 rows over 4”
Gauge on 8 is 14/15 sts and 22 rows over 4”.

WPI is 20 and would work as a lovely weft.

This yarn is a dreamy fluffy lace, a superb alternative to mohair lace. It makes super light fabrics. It takes the dye well and looks just dreamy.

I used a US8 and gauge was 16 sts & 26 rows for 4”

I also stranded it with Tibetan 3ply on US8 and got 16sts & 28 rows.

WPI: 20. Suitable for a weft.

One of our recent additions. This yarn is absolutely dreamy. It’s in my top ten for sure. Composition is 65% super baby alpaca & 35% extra fine 17.5 micron merino. 328yds per 100g. It really feels like luxury. It’s got almost a cashmere handle with a velvety soft texture. The twist really makes this yarn it helps it keep its structure in knitting really well. I used US 2.5 for this swatch, and got 26sts and 46 rows over 4”.
WPI is 20/21

Sister to Silky Boucle this is the brushed version of that yarn. It has a very soft muted fluff, and knits up almost like a chenille, a perfect fluff yarn for summer as the silk keeps things cool. This yarn dyes nicely, speckles merge softly into the texture.

70% mulberry silk, 30% fine merino, 219yds per 50g skein

Gauge on US6 is 19 sts and 28 rows. You could play around with the needle size for this yarn.

Happy new year!

We are excited to announce we have a brand new range our Puntas Merino. It's merino sourced from the Puntas Arenas area in Chile and is comparable to our current yarns, it's lovely and soft; 21 micron, has a nice colour. It's superwash and dyes well.

We have 4 weights of yarn: a Chunky like BRB but without the nylon, a lovely high twist 2ply DK, a Sock and a fi*****ng weight which have the same twist as Sheilas sock, but has more yardage which will appeal to plenty of people.

We also made minis in the sock yarn.

Secondly, we have Cupro fi*****ng. Cupro is made from the cotton waste that's leftover from cotton spinning, the fibres are very short and are converted into a longer staple fibre in a process similar to Tencel. It's soft, with a gentle shine and it's strong. I love this yarn, it dyes really nicely with Procion MX dyes.

We have two new things in stock, which I'll post separately for each.

We now have a superwash merino fabric which is quite unique, It’s a medium to heavy-weight fabric. Each Meter (1.09 yds x 1.53 yds) weighs approximately 11.9ozs. This is sold in 5-meter packs. It sucks up dye like a dream and works so nicely with natural dyes too. You can use it for Shibori, to dye for matching project bags for yarn, for applique, embroidery, blankets, baby slings, the ideas are endless. It's 21.5-micron merino so nice and soft. I've added some pictures of what I've used it for when testing. Just type fabric into the search bar on the website and it will come up.

So..... the second container which was booked in to be delivered at 9 has been delayed 😆 and is now expected sometime this afternoon. If it arrives before 3, we will do an update today, otherwise, it will be tomorrow. You will receive the usual newsletter when the stock has been added to the website. I'll post here too.

Hi Peeps
I've been working on some new products, including embroidery threads. We will be doing a selection including a cellulose/vegan one, silk, and merino & silk blend. These will be packaged as small hanks, but I wanted to get feedback really if this would be something you would use? I am super excited about these, but need to put the feelers out before we place the order so we have an idea for quantities.

It seems like we are getting closer to normal with stock levels, most of the popular yarns are well stocked, yes there are a few things we are waiting for, but it's alot better than it was.

Hi Everyone, Andys sent an email out, I might as well copy and paste it here, not good news about the container. 😭😭

I am very sorry to say that we have again been let down by CMA.
They failed to deliver the container today due to an internal paperwork error.
I had checked with them yesterday and was assured that everything was in place.
The containers are now booked in for Thursday and Friday.

We fully appreciate how annoying and disruptive this all is, but these matters are beyond our control. I can assure you we will not be using CMA going forward.

We will send out a further newsletter just as soon as the containers land at our warehouse dock.

Still no update on where the container is, the shipping company (4th largest in the world) was cyber attacked and everything has been offline for days, therefore we can't track it.
We are incredibly frustrated, as we know you are.

13. Ok, I love this one; when we talk about air splices in the yarn, this is what we mean. When the yarn breaks the machine grabs the end (I think it actually sucks it to find the end on the cone) and then pulls it down, pulls the other end up and puffs the air through both ends together to join them. I think sometimes people get quite upset about splices, and of course lots of them are not acceptable, but actually they are part and parcel of the natural process, and the wastage that would occur if this didn't happen would be sacrilege, as the ends are plied together the splices get incorporated into the yarn and most are not noticeable.

10. The sliver gets made into tops, and the resulting noils (short peices) come out the bottom, these get used for mattresses, beddings and futons, nothing gets wasted.

6. The fleeces get washed very gently so it agitates it enough to remove the dust and dirt, but not so much that it causes felting.

So peeps... we went to see where the mini skeins are made.. this is a little business set up by a wife of one of the mill workers, she employs around 12 women to make mini hanks, and its so so cool. The husband has built the machines, and its all run by pedal power, so no electric needed. It's genius. Music was playing, the girls were working and chatting, it was absolutely lovely. When you are buying the mini hanks you are creating employment for these women. (next video shows how they twist the skeins) And the great news is, they are happy to make 10g hanks for us, Yippeeee!
