Happy home update from Beara! 🥳💜
Ms. Beara came to us in January 2024 after her owners were no longer able to care for her and has found her forever home in June 2024! She is having an absolute blast in her new home and continues to be a champion at fetch!
Thank you so much to Beara's family for welcoming her into their lives and giving her such a wonderful home! We hope there are many happy days ahead for you guys! 🐾
Our pups had a fun time attempting agility-like activities! Who do you think had the best form? Comment below! 😁🤍
It’s always a good time, with kittens!!!
Just as a reminder we are still running our two for the price of one kittens! Why adopt just one lonely kitten when you can get two to keep eachother company? 🙂❤️
Our pups are back in the festive spirit!
Although they cannot trick-or-treat or eat candy, doesn’t mean they can’t acquire their own treats and toys!
If you would like to donate treats or toys, all month long we will have the pups buckets hanging up for them!
Happy howl-oween!💕🐾
These wonderful contestants are winners by default as their competition went to their forever home!
Since these guys didn’t get to compete this round, staff figured they still could get a wet food treat for their patience when waiting for their time to shine ✨
The pups listed in this short clip are still waiting for their furrever home! Stop on by anytime during business hours to visit with them and give us a call if you have any questions about them!

Thank you to Ben over at 104.7 WAYZ for interveiwing one of our many long term residents! Tango has been with us for quite some time until he was taken ito a foster home. Although Tango is in a foster home, this does not mean that he is not looking for his forever home! A foster home is not a permanent home placement and we would LOVE to see our boy get a forever home!🐾💕
A special thank you to Specialty Granules LLC for sponsoring Tango!

In response to recent inquiries regarding bringing found cats and kittens to our facility, we would like to provide some insight into our reasoning behind advising finders to leave them where they are or to foster them as we know there have been well-meaning people upset with us recently. With over 320 cats and kittens in our care across our intake building, foster homes, and adoption building, we are currently operating at maximum capacity. Our intake building is full, and we have resorted to housing cats in crates due to a lack of available cages. While we will never resort to euthanasia as the solution to lack of spacing, we are asking that cats and kittens that do not require immediate care be left where they have been found. In most circumstances, kittens and cats that are healthy and thriving in an outdoor environment will continue to do so without humans stepping in to assist.
This may seem counterintuitive, but the probability of otherwise healthy cats becoming sick is much higher if they are brought and kept in a confined environment and exposed to other cats that may be carrying illness. We will always try our best to save as many lives as we can and will not turn away cats and kittens that are in need of medical care or human intervention in some other form. To be able to continue doing this, though, we need your patience and understanding to why we have to say 'no' at times. Antietam Humane Society is a nonprofit and we do not receive any funding to continue doing the work we do. We run entirely off of donations and our community's willingness to help us.
At this time and with the amount of cats we are seeing, the biggest way you are able to assist is by providing a healthy, more comfortable environment for these cats to be housed in. If you or someone you know is able to foster, please apply to do so today. If we have foster homes who are able to care for the cats/kittens we receive in, that opens cage space as well
Listen to this pretty boy PURR!
Say hello to Esquire!
This wonderful dude came to us as a stray late June 2024.
Esquire has been nothing but wonderful in our care and is such a sweetheart! We have not seen him with feline friends and would do best in a home without dogs as he is very scared of them. This 8 year-old boy wants to spend his golden years in his forever home purring up a storm!
If you think Esquire would fit into your home, fill out that application and stop on by!
Esquire is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.

Even with our promotion we have had ZERO interest in our long time residents. This month we have had 8 adoptions NONE of which is our long time residents! These pups are wonderful and get over looked due to their looks or how they show in the kennel. Kennel technicians work with the pups day in and day out to socialize and place them into homes and we watch as our dogs loose the light in their eyes as people over look them.
Below is a list of our long time residents and how long they have been here.
Bear is one of our longest term residents and has been here 621 days.
Orson - 356 days
Kaya - 257 days
Waylen- 305 days

Juno - 210 days
Tango - 330 days
Koda - 456 days
Patton - 337 days

Coco - 1, 129 DAYS. Coco is our longest resident and has been here since she was a pup. :(

Spring into summer with our adoptable pup, Patton! 🐾☀️
Patton is part of our discounted adoption event currently going on until the end of April.
This handsome boy came to us in May 2023 after staff discovered him abandoned in the shelter's play yard overnight. Patton has spent a good bit of time with us working on some of his behavior and is ready to find his forever home!
Patton would do best in a patient but structured home so he can continue to work on manners and training. Patton has been unfortunately very anxious in the kennel and does not always show the best behind a barrier due to this. He can also be shy at first when meeting new people but has been working hard so he can show everyone how loveable he can be!
With a little time and the help of treats, Patton is a very snuggly dog. He loves giving kisses and hugs and especially enjoys belly rubs! He rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. Patton loves his treats but does prefer to get attention above everything else. Patton will need some continued training with his manners so he can learn that he gets even more love when all four paws stay on the ground! Tough, durable toys are Patton's best friend as he does like to toss around and chew his toys. He loves relaxing with a treat filled kong when it is time for him to settle down.
Patton will need to be the only animal in his forever home. He has plenty of love to give to make up for it, though! We would also recommend that he does not go to a home with any young children but we will consider potential adopters who have older kids.
Stop by and meet Patton if this boy sounds like a good fit for you!
Patton is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
