We are a private, non-profit, no-kill 501c3 animal shelter serving Southern Franklin County since 1973. We receive no funding from state or local government for all the necessary services we provide, so we rely exclusively on donations from our generous supporters. For 2022, we have maintained a save rate of 94% for all animals that have come into our care. We have done this through TNVR of commun

ity cats, providing a pet food pantry for those most in need, offering behavioral consultation to pet parents, and growing our foster network, especially for kittens who are often too young to survive in a shelter environment. We thank you for your support in our mission to promote the well-being of animals and our community through education, care, adoption, and outreach.

Our sweet boy Asher loved spending time with the 4th and 5th grade student council members from Salem Avenue Elementary School in Hagerstown, MD. They did a "pennies for pets" fundraiser for our shelter where they raised $750 for homeless pets. Thank you all for helping us save more animals! Washington County Public Schools

Asher is still waiting for his furrever home! Unfortunately, Asher had an appointment fall through so he is still searching in the meantime.

Asher came to us when he was no longer a good fit for his previous owners. Now, talkative Asher says he is ready to find a loving home! This boy loves to play! Any and all toys are Asher's best friend. He is always down for an adventure, as long as it's somewhere with plenty of space for him to run, Asher will be the happiest pup! Asher loves meeting new people! He will greet you with kisses and maybe a little "hello" howl! Asher will need a patient home who understands he will need some basic training. Asher would do best in a home without cats or dogs but love children! If Asher is the boy for you, please fill out an application for him today!

Asher is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

If you would like to meet with this goofy guy, stop in during business hours and click the link below to fill out an application!

Happy Saturday Caturday from Hershey (no eyes) and Almond Joy! 🐱❤
This bonded pair of kitties came to us after they were involved in a humane case and are now looking to find their forever homes! Regardless of the bad circumstances they came from, both of these ladies have been nothing but sweet since coming into our care. Hershey loves pets and snuggles but can get a little surprised when initially touched but never has a mean reaction to it. Almond Joy is as equally snuggly and loves to be held by her human friends! Generally, Hershey and Almond Joy are very lazy ladies and enjoy spending most of their time napping or slowly exploring their surroundings. Due to Hershey's sightlessness
Most of the time these pals can be found snuggled up together snoozing or grooming one another. Hershey relies heavily on Almond Joy to find her way around and to bring her comfort; they MUST be adopted together. Both have done well with other cats and would not mind if there were some additional feline friends in their forever home! Hershey and Almond Joy have done well with all of the human friends they have made but any potential children in the home will have to understand that Hershey does startle easier then other kitties.
If you have a little bit of extra love to give this sweet pair of two-year-olds, then be sure to stop in and visit!

Hershey and Almond Joy are spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Happy Foster Friday from our long time resident, Bear!

Bear and his foster/trainer have been working on manners and figuring out what he loves to do!
He loves hiking with his foster parent as well as deciding to go swimming about half way through! Bear has worked really hard with getting use to a muzzle and learning that other furry friends are not so scary. He has made immense progress on “leave it” when other friends are passing by, going into a kennel for car rides, and basic manners. If you know Bear, you know those skills has never been his strong suit! We are so proud of you Bear, keep making amazing steps!

Happy home update from Ellie, formerly Bella Trix! ❤
This little lady definitely wasn't here very long and has settled into her forever home as well as can be!
Here is what her wonderful adopters had to say!:
"Hello! I wanted to give you an update on Ellie, formerly known as Bella Trix. We adopted her on December 13th. She is doing great! She has stolen our hearts and rules our house! She loves to cuddle and be in your lap 24/7.
We are so thankful we were lucky enough to adopt such a sweetheart!"

Thank you so much for adopting this little sweetie! 🐾

We wanted to take a bit of time today and share some of our wonderful cats that get overlooked due to the stigma around FIV and FELV positive cats!

FIV/ Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a viral infection that weakens a cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to other infections. It's spread through saliva, primarily by biting, and is not contagious to humans or dogs. FIV shares similarities with HIV, the human virus that causes AIDS, but there's no risk of humans catching AIDS from infected cats

FeLV/ Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is a retrovirus that impacts a cat's immune system. It's spread through close contact, such as sharing food bowls, grooming, or biting, and can also be transmitted from mother to kitten. While it's not cancer or leukemia itself, complications from FeLV can lead to cancers like lymphoma and leukemia, as well as blood disorders and immune deficiencies.
Pictured below are two cats that have been diagnosed with FIV or FeLV. These guys are more susceptible to illness in the shelter environment. They can only live with other FeLV+ cats or be the only cat in the home.
