Meet the newest, feathered additions to our adoption floor! 🐦
Blue, Charlie, Rhea and Sunny came to us after their owner was no longer able to keep them. These pretty birdies are about three-years-old and have been together their entire lives. They will ONLY be adopted out together as a group. Blue and Charlie are both males and Rhea and Sunny are females.
In their previous home they lived in a 5ft cage and at this time, a permanent cage will not be provided by AHS. They do have a travel cage but any potential adopters will need to look into housing requirements for parakeets and be able to provide the space and enrichment needed for them to thrive.
Blue is the most outgoing of the group and is always the first to come up and investigate any potential human buddies! Sunny's beak does have a tendency to overgrow. In her previous home that was being trimmed once a month and will need to be kept up with. Charlie, Rhea and Sunny have been a little timid in our care but are very chatty throughout the day. They may need some work with hand-taming and socialization and would love to find a patient home that will take everything at a slower pace!

In two days, 3/29, we will be set up at the Chambersburg PetSmart with some furry friends that are looking for their forever homes! 🐱
Be sure to stop by from 10am-3pm if you are searching for your next feline friend or if you are just in the mood for some kitty cuddles. Rutherford is also still currently looking for his forever home and housed at the Chambersburg PetSmart!

A huge THANK YOU to PetSmart Germantown for your continued support of the Antietam Cats! We are so grateful to now have adoption cages in the store, allowing us to find loving homes for our cats seven days a week instead of just once a month. This will make an incredible difference in our adoption rates and help so many more kitties find their forever families.

We’re thrilled to share that Rani was the first cat adopted through this newly formed partnership! Here’s to many more happy endings!

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT!

A cat found in the area of Hesshire Hill Court and Ivanhoe Drive Waynesboro, PA tested positive for rabies. We do not know the history of the cat or how/when it acquired rabies. Please contact your vet to discuss if your pets should receive a rabies vaccine booster.

Things to look for in wild and domestic animals: changes in behavior (i.e. aggression, lethargy, fearfulness), lack of appetite, loss of coordination or paralysis, foaming at the mouth, difficulty swallowing, and seizures. Snider's support and care for our adoptable animals is always greatly appreciated! If you adopt either a cat or a kitten from us you can always stop by Snider's and pick up a free adoption box! 🐈

Did you realize that some dogs end up in the shelter because their owner is going on vacation and won't make arrangements for their care? Trevor from Antietam Humane Society Inc picked up a few goodies we had to donate and they got the customer cash donations. We offer an adoption box from World's Best Cat Litter when you adopt a kitten or a cat! The shelter needs volunteers so contact them to find out how you can help! This is an awesome opportunity to serve the community.

Bear has been making leaps and bounds these past few weeks, and making some new furry friends! If you know Bear, then you know how big of a step this is for this goofy guy. While he’s still been working on figuring out some of his big emotions he’s enjoyed getting to hang out with other dogs in a calm, neutral environment. So far Bear has done great going on walks and hikes with other dogs - everyone is muzzled for safety just incase! Bear has done great going into dog-friendly stores and greeting employees and customers, he sits and waits patiently for any pets and attention. While Bear is absolutely loving his get away vacation and working on training, he is still looking for his perfect forever home!

PLEASE NOTE: Although Bear has made immense progress, at this time he is still not far enough in his training to live with another pup.
