Official Volhard Testing evaluations were conducted today and final puppy picks on our Pan!c At The Disco Litter have been made!

The children had their first outdoor adventure today, the weathers been way too cold up until now, but we have nice weather the next 2-3 days so we will be taking advantage of that!

Levitan got to meet them for the first time, he’s a better mom than any female I’ve bred 🤣

Our litter is almost 3 weeks old!
Today while we cleaned the whelping box they got some time out to explore!

We still have a couple of reservations available due to last minute back outs for personal reasons.
We expect this litter to have medium- high drives.

Both Dam and Sire have wonderful stable temperaments, health tested and titled.
Priority will go to working and sporting homes.
Volhard testing will be conducted at 7 weeks.

Sweet Rambo is off to his new home!
He has a long journey ahead as his new mom flew in from Washington to come meet him today! 🥳
He will have a new brother, a gorgeous Silken Windhound, and a sister, who is a Rat Terrier!

Excited for Rambo to go on this new adventure and a MASSIVE thank you to his new family for coming all this way to offer him an amazing home!

I have never been so excited for a pairing, an absolute dream!
Expected to breed based on progesterone testing this coming Sunday and Monday!

Airick-
Airick is a very strong male with balanced drives. He works very well in prey and aggression and switching between the two.
His food drive is over the top. Toy drive is very high. Zero environmental issues to including slick floors or tight spaces.
Social with people. Neutral towards dogs.
He is a workhorse and lives to work.
He’s very strong and dominant in protection work with hard full grips. 85 pounds.

Prada-
Prada is an exceptional female on and off the field. She has natural full, pushing grips and switches between aggression and prey with ease. Medium-high food drive, high prey, HIGH toy, with a very strong hunt drive. Very level headed with a great temperament. Currently competing for her PSA2.
No environmental issues to include gun fire, slick floors, confined spaces, fire works, etc.
She has a great natural off switch inside the home.
Naturally aloof and neutral with people/children, cats, other dogs, horses and poultry. Civil.
Prada is also trained on Narcotics and has done multiple demos for children’s school programs.

Proudly presenting one of our two breedings taking place within the next 2 weeks!

Nick is a level headed, serious dog with a very notable presence on the field. He is very handler oriented and naturally aloof with strangers. High toy drive, medium-high food drive, high prey drive, with a very solid hunt drive. Switches between prey and defense with ease. Civil.
Social with other dogs, cats, children and friendly strangers. Nice off switch inside the home.
He is currently in training for PSA and doing excellent. He was a PPD for his previous handler/owner. No noise or surface sensory issues.
86 pounds, 25 inches at the withers.

Olive is a petite female with tons of drive. HIGH hunt, food, toy and prey! She is highly handler oriented and lives to work. She excels in detection and has also been training in PSA style protection and obedience. Planning to trial her next season. She is social with people and animals, but can be more on the aloof/neutral side, but will greet a friendly stranger if offered. No noise or surface sensory issues. 45 pounds.

We expect this pairing to produce excellent protection & other sport, SAR, single and dual purpose tracking/detection dogs. These puppies should range from Medium-High to High drives.
Will be raised on puppy culture and have Volhard testing conducted at 7 weeks.

Meet Rambo!
This handsome 3 year old Doberman is ready for his new home!
Rambo originally came from Korea so he is stylin’ with his natural ears and tail 😎
Rambo is Microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
He knows basic obedience, kennel and potty trained. He loves children big and small, good with other dogs and cats.
He is naturally aloof with strangers and is a handler oriented dog.
He loves to go on walks and zoom around the yard. He’s very calm inside the home and is a pro snuggler.

Meet Kerry!

This beautiful GSD (possible Malinois cross) is approximately 18-20 months old.
Kerry is spayed, microchipped, UTD on vaccinations and preventative care.

Kerry is advanced obedience trained and LOVES agility! She would love to be in a home that does FastCAT, Agility, Rally, Obedience or scent games. She does also enjoy the water so with the right training Dock Diving.
She loves hikes and personal engagement of any kind.

Kerry is very environmentally stable and sound, she has a clear mind. Very handler oriented, food and ball driven.
I’d say Kerry overall is medium energy and does have a nice off switch inside the home. She would be safe in a home with dog savvy cats under supervision. Good with other dogs.
Kerry has been around kids 10 and older but I don’t feel like a younger child would be an issue as she’s very docile in the home and gentle.
Very social with strangers when offered to greet.

This girl needs a home with clear boundaries and expectations. Once she’s into your routine she doesn’t test the boundary.
She is very clean and quiet in the kennel even with other dogs out.
House trained as well.

After being in our SD program since February Stanley was finally paired with his handler!
Stanley will be used for light mobility and fainting response. He has learned tasks such as stand (for support), touch, DPT, and Public Access. He is still currently working on refining his item retrievals and barking alert in the case of a fainting spell.
We traveled to Oklahoma yesterday to meet his new family, he was instant friends with his new sister GiGi and was the absolute perfect fit for his handler. We cannot thank Larry and Zena for reaching out to our program and allowing us to pair you with one of our program dogs.
We are excited to watch you on your journey and we’re always here for support along the way!

Huge weekend for us here at Flat Collar!

We had 3 of our 5 program dogs go to their new families all over the country this weekend!

Diablo, now Gunnar, is in NJ with his 2 new sisters in an active pet home who will also be pursuing Therapy Dog work for law enforcement members.

Fizgig, is now is Massachusetts with his family, he has been in training to be a Service Dog since March. He is still in training but is on the right path to be the best boy possible for Killian 🖤 They will be perusing continuation training with an awesome trainer we’ve worked with in the past in MA.

Stevie Boy is now in Florida with his new owner living the absolute dream of a posh active pet/companion.

We cannot thank our clients enough for entrusting us with the training and transportation of your new family members.

Huge thank you to Beth for entrusting us with Chewie!
Chewie has been in our Service Dog training program since March of this year.
Chewie has come such a long way in his training in Public Access, DPT, advanced obedience, environmental stability and gluten detection.
He is still in training but now he has a great head start to continue progress towards being a service dog.
His family flew in from California to pick him up and he passed his Canine Good Citizen test today as well! Thank you to Kristie Harris for being the evaluator today.
Can’t wait to watch this boys progress as he and his mom continue their training journey 🖤

Somehow this sweet girl is still with us!
Ms. Suki was picked up as a stray back in early February very underweight and injured.
Suki has since gotten to a healthy weight, up to date on vaccinations and received training during her time here.
She has been patiently waiting for her forever home!
Suki is potty and kennel trained, great with other dogs, cats and children. She has basic obedience and walks very nicely next to you for her evening walks. She is very easy to groom and will stand there for her nail trims, bath and blow dry.
Suki is the most low maintenance dog we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She loves nap time, sun bathing, snacking on pup cups from Midway and walks. She is great in the car and enjoys looking out the window.
She would be great for an older couple or even a family looking for a calm companion.
Suki is roughly 2.5-3 years old. She is mature and easy going.

All of the program dogs here at Flat Collar finally got a good spring cleaning bath in!
Everyone had their baths, nails dremmeled, and blow dried.
Grooming is also a huge part of training. We have so many clients whose dogs hate baths or panic for their nails, proper exposure and positive reinforcement can make a world of difference in baby steps. Also, learning the appropriate restraints and holds for your dog and getting them comfortable in those positions before you even expose them to the bath, nail trimmer or blow dryer sets them up for success!

Meet Diablo 🔥
This handsome boy turned 1 year in April. He is extremely biddable, social, environmentally stable and has that “happy to be here” personality.
We evaluated Diablo for service work and have been gearing his training towards that as he passed with flying colors. He would also make an awesome obedience dog, rally, FastCAT, dock diving and potentially agility dog. He’d also be perfectly fine in an active pet home. He has a medium energy level and he’s very docile for a working line GSD but loves to please his handler and lives for food. He has good toy drive as long as you engage the toy with him, otherwise unless it’s a chew bone he doesn’t occupy himself with toys.
He is kennel and house trained. He is great with children of all sizes, dogs of all sizes and genders, cats, horses and cattle.
He has a great off switch inside the home and would also be happy just to have lazy days.
He is a lover at heart and is a gentle soul.

Today we started puppy mush and added in our noise sensory play list than covers a variety of noises but not limited to sirens, construction, crying children, dogs barking, fire alarms, gun fire, fire works, etc! It’s absolutely critical to start surface and noise sensory from a young age in order to set your puppy up for success. We strive to produce temperamentally and environmentally sounds dogs. Our new Trainer Tori getting in one last session with Vanellope before her go home lesson tonight! Vanellope has been here for a 30 day board and train, she came in very submissive and anxious- wherever you were she was glued to you the entire time. We’ve built her confidence and obedience on and off leash with a bunch of small sessions daily and much patience. Now she’s off to the groomers to get all cleaned up before this evening! Sara's Doggy Spa Thankyou for the grooms!

Doing some off leash action with Nala (blk & tan- client) and our personal dog Prada! Nala will be going back home tonight but we’ve had the last 3.5 weeks of lots of challenges and obstacles to overcome. Nala came to use for being very reactive in any new setting and needed some help with her confidence to resolve these issues. Nala was also fear reactive on and off leash with dogs her size and bigger and especially men. Now, Nala can confidently be on and off leash with confidence, and socialize with other dogs and people. She has come a VERY long way- as we couldn’t even touch her for the first 10 days. Going to miss this gal as she is so goofy and loving but happy to send her off to her family who can now enjoy outings with her ❤️

Introducing a puppy to obidence training

We often get asked about basic obedience for puppies so here is an inside look to one of our most recent sessions with a client dog Skye. Skye started with us at 14 weeks old! One of our trainers, David, is seen here explaining and demonstrating the sit and the down and why/ how it carries over into more advanced training. This was only Skye’s second session and she’s looking great! If you have any questions or comments regarding our program and training options feel free to send us a message!

Taking a nice stroll with the infamous Chiska- a board and train we’ve had before, she’s with us this time for intro to bite work. Also, walking the lovely Jax (Fawn PitBull). Yes we are aware he is very underweight, he came to us from a situation where he wasn’t being fed properly and his nails were over an inch long. He is a part of our train to adopt program. Jax is freshly neutered, dewormed, and vaccinated! He has gained an additional 8 pounds since being here with us- and will continue to get healthier. We have been doing quite a bit of patience work and leash manners with him as he was your typical puppy- aka Bull in a China shop 😂😂 For more information on Jax, our dogs for adoption, or questions on our training programs send us a message today!

More training videos from Lowe’s on Thursday! This is Todd, he and his house mate are with us for a 30 day program. Todd has been doing absolutely awesome with all of our off leash training and obedience, but he was having some trouble staying focused under distraction- so where better to train than in a distraction filled building!

Can I just say how impressed we are with our new board and train Chiska!? It’s only day 3 of our 30 day program with her and she is so intelligent. Chiska is a 5 month old GSD/ Aussie cross who is here for an advanced off leash course. We are working on everything from basics to advanced social stability and distraction work. More updates of this girl and our other board and trains to come!

Just wanted to post our Dog of The Week, Duke! Duke just completed his 4 session obedience package and is on his way back to America with his family. We started one session before Covid and rocked the other 3 sessions out in the last 2.5 weeks before they had to leave! This was our final session, working on focus and obedience out in public with plenty of people as distractions. When we first met Duke he would drag you to go greet people and couldn’t regain his focus but here is our final product! Thank you Rachel for using our services, Duke was an absolute pleasure to work with!
