The 4th of July is a time for celebration, but the fireworks can be stressful and even dangerous for our dogs. Here are some tips to keep your furry family members safe and calm during the festivities:

1️⃣ Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, comfortable area inside your home where your dog can retreat. Include their favorite toys, a cozy bed, and some soothing music to drown out the noise.

2️⃣ Avoid Fireworks: Keep your dog indoors during fireworks displays. The loud noises can cause anxiety and lead to them running away or getting hurt.

3️⃣ Update ID Tags and Microchips: Ensure your dog’s ID tags are up-to-date and that they are microchipped. In case they do get frightened and run off, this increases the chances of a safe return.

4️⃣ Exercise Beforehand: Take your dog for a long walk or play an active game earlier in the day to tire them out. A tired dog is more likely to be relaxed during the evening’s activities.

5️⃣ Stay Calm: Dogs can sense our emotions. Stay calm and act normal to help reduce your dog’s anxiety. Offer plenty of love and reassurance.

Q: How can I stop my dog from jumping on people when they first meet?

A: Training your dog to be calm around new friends is key! Start by having your dog sit before they greet anyone. Ask visitors not to pet your dog until you give the okay. This teaches your pup that they only receive affection when all four paws are firmly on the ground. If your dog stands up, the person should stop interacting until your dog sits again. 🚫🐾

For those entering your home, assign a specific spot for your dog to sit and stay as guests arrive. If they move, gently guide them back and have them sit. Consistency is crucial—practice makes perfect!

🐾 Why Does My Trained Dog Still P**p Inside? 🏠

You might be puzzled when your well-trained 4-year-old dog still has accidents indoors. Here’s why this might be happening:

1️⃣ Anxiety Issues: Your pup might be feeling anxious. This could stem from separation anxiety or being nervous about environmental noises outside, making them hesitant to do their business there.

2️⃣ Territorial Marking: While most dogs mark their territory by peeing, some might mark by pooping inside.
