Meet our newest cats! These 9 adorable cats came to us from a heartbreaking situation, and they are ready to find their forever homes!

THUMBALINA and PEEWEE were rescued as pregnant strays, and they gave birth in the safety of a loving home. Sadly, their rescuer lost their home six months later, and the two mama cats and their 7 kittens made their way to FUR.

THUMBALINA is very sweet and affectionate! PEEWEE is still very unsure of her new situation and will need lots of love and patience to adjust to life at FUR.

Their kittens are all six months old, and very friendly and affectionate! GARFIELD is the only boy, and he loves spending time with his sisters, HOPPER, TIGGER, THUMPER,POCAHONTAS, SMOKEY, and CLEO.

Make an appointment to come meet these sweet kitties at https://furofwnc.org/appointment/!

MEET SWEET TAFFY!
A very pregnant Taffy was found outside in the Hendersonville area and brought into FUR in June of 2024. She gave birth to 6 kittens days after entering foster care and was adopted out this past October. Taffy is reported to be very friendly and sweet, but sadly, the family's resident cat wants no part of her. The current family would like to keep her with them until an adopter is found. If you are interested in Taffy, call or email FUR to make an appointment to meet her at her current adoptive home. A member of our staff will be happy to meet you there.

FOSTERS NEEDED FOR MILO & KIKI!
ALSO ELIGIBLE FOR "SENIORS FOR SENIORS" PROGRAM
16-year-old Milo and 14-year-old Kiki have lived solely with one special human, who sadly passed away last year. Unfortunately, they had no place to go and spent their time in the late owner’s basement while the estate was undergoing liquidation. While their physical needs were met during this time they missed the love, affection and playtime that their owner had provided for them. Now they are at FUR, getting used to their new surroundings.
Milo is a large, friendly Siamese with beautiful blue eyes. He is very calm, almost stoic. He loves to be petted and brushed, and he loves his food. Kiki is having a much harder time acclimating to her new surroundings. She can usually be found hiding behind Milo or curled up in a cubby. She can be coaxed out briefly for laser play. She is not a fan of other cats. She will need a patient person to bring her out of her shell.
Although seniors, both cats have been thoroughly vetted and are very healthy. They do need to go together, as they are bonded pair. If you or someone you know can provide them with a quiet and loving environment in which to spend their time, FUR will take care of the rest.

Miss Gomez is hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Miss Gomez says she is grateful for being warm, dry and a full belly this Thanksgiving but she would dearly love to leave shelter life behind and have a real home to call her own.

Despite what many people think, GOMEZ is actually a girl! Named due to her adorably perfect little mustache, miss GOMEZ is still waiting for her perfect adopters!

GOMEZ has been living in our kitten room with her daughter, Wednesday (available for adoption!), and several other FUR kittens. She has been very patient with the kittens, and she has been doing well with other adult cats.

GOMEZ prefers not to be picked up and held, but she does enjoy pets and attention! She will tolerate being carried for short lengths of time. She loves playing with toys, and relaxing in her favorite cat trees.

Come meet GOMEZ, enjoy some playtime, and get to know a truly unique, adorable, and independent cat! Learn how to meet her at https://furofwnc.org/adopt/!

Does your castle need a PRINCESS? PRINCESS is a tortie and white kitty around 2 years old. This beautiful cat loves lounging in her favorite cat trees and playing with volunteers.

PRINCESS is easily intimidated by cats who play rough, and she would prefer not to play with other cats at all. She would be fine as an only cat or in a home with quiet and friendly other cats. We don't know if she has been around dogs.

PRINCESS has been at FUR for 8 months, and she desperately wants a home of her own. She is a sweet cat, and we can't understand why she keeps getting overlooked! Learn how to meet PRINCESS at https://furofwnc.org/adopt/!

Our Story

As guardians of displaced felines, our mission is to provide a safe haven for cats, thereby reducing the homeless population, the shelter euthanasia rates, and filling a gap in the rescue community as a last resort sanctuary.

Many of our rescued cats recover and are re-adopted to loving families. Some, however, will live out their days with us at the Sanctuary.

FUR is managed and maintained by an almost exclusively volunteer staff. To continue to provide this valuable service in Haywood County, we need your help. We need families willing to adopt or foster cats, volunteers, donors, and folks willing to share our posts and help get the word out about FUR. A second chance truly starts with YOU.
