Despite what many people think, GOMEZ is actually a girl! Named due to her adorably perfect little mustache, miss GOMEZ is still waiting for her perfect adopters!

GOMEZ has been living in our kitten room with her daughter, Wednesday (available for adoption!), and several other FUR kittens. She has been very patient with the kittens, and she has been doing well with other adult cats.

GOMEZ prefers not to be picked up and held, but she does enjoy pets and attention! She will tolerate being carried for short lengths of time. She loves playing with toys, and relaxing in her favorite cat trees.

Come meet GOMEZ, enjoy some playtime, and get to know a truly unique, adorable, and independent cat! Learn how to meet her at https://furofwnc.org/adopt/!

Does your castle need a PRINCESS? PRINCESS is a tortie and white kitty around 2 years old. This beautiful cat loves lounging in her favorite cat trees and playing with volunteers.

PRINCESS is easily intimidated by cats who play rough, and she would prefer not to play with other cats at all. She would be fine as an only cat or in a home with quiet and friendly other cats. We don't know if she has been around dogs.

PRINCESS has been at FUR for 8 months, and she desperately wants a home of her own. She is a sweet cat, and we can't understand why she keeps getting overlooked! Learn how to meet PRINCESS at https://furofwnc.org/adopt/!

Remember Malina, the young kitty with a broken jaw and ripped out tongue who nearly died of starvation? Well, her tissue culture came back, and it was gangrenous, so she is now on a heavy duty antibiotic. Read more about her progress on her GoFundMe site. And, if you can, please consider donating. Every dollar goes directly to her medical bills and care. Even if you can’t donate, please like, comment, and share so we can get more eyes on this and continue to get Malina the help she deserves.

Please check out this handsome boy, Kenny! He is the sweetest most loving kitten, 5 months old with very slight degree of CH which makes him a little wonky walking and running but doesn’t slow him down a bit and it won’t get any worse. It makes him all the more endearing and adorable. No follow up medical treatment or care needed for CH. It’s just a neurological condition that he will have to live with. Kenny is a Siamese flame point mix with the most beautiful blue eyes that are sometimes crossed. Kenny would love to have his own family to love him.

This handsome Russian Blue/Main C**n mix is the sweetest boy once he gets to know you. A little shy at first he warms up quickly and has the most gorgeous yellow eyes. His caretaker lost her home and had to move into a homeless shelter. Devastating for all involved. Please come meet this handsome hunk Hank!

Honey Bear is a 2 year old tabby stray that appeared about 3 months ago in our neighborhood. He spent a good deal of that time trying to get into people's homes, but all were either unwilling or unable to take him in. Then with Hurrican Helene imminent, I brought him into our home, and he has been living in my basement bedroom and garage since then. I tend to think he was an inside cat that was abandoned by his owner. He likes to be indoors; he hasn't tried to leave the house. He is friendly and has the loudest purr, and gets more comfortable being petted by the day. He likes to lay by you and does the cat walk around the ankles thing alot. He plays well with toys and LOVES the cat dancer. He likes to look out the window and enjoys the catio that he has access to from our basement garage during the day. He is always hungry. He has a stocky build and is a handsome boy but has the tom cat features because he has only recently been neutered. I can't keep him as I already have 4 cats. I also think he would be happiest without another cat as he goes after my cats whenever we try to introduce them. It's like he can't figure out if he wants to be friends or if he wants to defend his territory. He may do fine given enough time. He has been recently neutered, has his rabies and FVRCP vaccination, iand microchipped and dewormed. He has never sprayed. PLEASE share this post, and let FUR know via email if you are interested in him. We can do a meet n greet.

Our Story

As guardians of displaced felines, our mission is to provide a safe haven for cats, thereby reducing the homeless population, the shelter euthanasia rates, and filling a gap in the rescue community as a last resort sanctuary.

Many of our rescued cats recover and are re-adopted to loving families. Some, however, will live out their days with us at the Sanctuary.

FUR is managed and maintained by an almost exclusively volunteer staff. To continue to provide this valuable service in Haywood County, we need your help. We need families willing to adopt or foster cats, volunteers, donors, and folks willing to share our posts and help get the word out about FUR. A second chance truly starts with YOU.
