The Woofington is hosting a Santa Stop toy drive through December 16th! Please stop by any time during our lobby hours and donate an unwrapped toy to help out families and bring joy to the children dealing with medical visits who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House this holiday season.

Meet this week’s Notorious D.O.G., Toby Larson! We’re doing something a little different this week, honoring a very special member of the Woofington family. Toby Larson, best known as the “Founder” of the Woofington, took his place in heaven this week after his long battle with Cushing’s Disease.

It is no exaggeration to say that this little guy truly changed the lives of our family, our staff, our client families, and the pet care industry for the better. Toby’s early life experiences were the sparks that propelled Lisa and Mike forward to create a pet care facility like no other in the world. He will forever be remembered as the reason for the Woofington’s existence.

Toby was adopted into the Larson household in the spring of 2012, about a year after he had been found wandering the streets of north Minneapolis eating acorns for survival. But this schnoodle’s fortunes made a dramatic turn for the better the day he met Lisa, Mike, and Avery (a.k.a. “The Momma, The Warden, and The Kid”). His summer days were filled with chasing racquetballs around the back yard with The Kid, taking long walks with The Warden to mark out the ever-expanding borders of the Schnoodle Nation, and relaxing on the deck with The Momma watching golfers drift by their home. He loved to put his nose in the air and simply sniff the fresh outdoor air, any time of the year.

When the family adopted his little brother Louie (a.k.a. “The Dog”) a year later from Albert Lea Minnesota, Toby was overheard mumbling in a low gravelly voice, reminiscent of a sailor in a dive bar in the seedy part of town, “What the…? I never asked for a dog. Somebody, call Albert and see if he wants his damn dog back!” But the two quickly became best friends and Toby taught The Dog some of his signature moves, like “how to beg for kitchen scraps when The Momma is cooking”, and “making the rounds and marking the perimeter of the yard for The Warden.”

Toby’s love for steak was legendary, and his recent trip to Texas, a state known for its longhorn cattle, was quite a revelation. Looking out the window of the car he was overheard saying, “Dog, look! They got steakz as far as the eye can see, just roaming free down here. I think I’m gonna like Texas.” Although truth be told, he loved any kind of meat that The Momma would give him. In fact, when The Kid went off to college the first thing Toby said was, “See ya, Kid. Hey, Momma, who gets The Kid’s steakz now? I hope you’re not thinking about giving them to The Dog. That would be a waste.”

Toby’s impact on our lives cannot be understated. His presence altered the trajectory of our lives in a way we never could have foreseen. Because of him, we began to not only ask “what-if”, but also, we became motivated to take action and create something special from nothing. He inspired us to look at care for small dogs in a different light than anyone else had before. It was his presence that pushed us to constantly challenge ourselves and our team to do better, to be better, and to deliver better. Toby has been the soul of the Woofington, and we will miss him. Bless you Mister Tobes and may you rest forever in peace.

Meet this week's Notorious D.O.G., Otis!

Otis writes, "My name is Otis, and my parents rescued me from San Diego. In January, I tried to tell them that rescue might not be the right word for it, but they swear it is."

"I am a little guy with a lot of personality who has never met a snack I don't like. I love all my pals at Woofington, especially my besties Franklin, Sebastian, and the Baby Pugs, Phiona and Finn. While my furry friends are the best, if you check the live stream, I may be velcroed to one of the 'Woofington Gals' - they are my favorite and spoil me with love."

"At home, I love to play with my big sister Dixie even though she says my playing is tormenting. Dad calls me "Crazy Man," which seems offensive, but he says it lovingly and that he and Mom think I was the perfect addition to our team."

Meet this week's Notorious D.O.G., Rocko!

Rocko writes, “Hi! I’m Rocko and I’m your Notorious D.O.G. at Woofington! My big sister, Molly, was a Notorious D.O.G. recently…I was jealous. So now it’s my turn!”

“I’m a three-year-old Pomeranian, but my mama says I’m actually a Southern Cuddlewolf. Mama also calls me Tiny Sir, Lumpy, Smol Fren and a lot of other silly things. Mama and Dad brought me to my furever home about a year and a half ago. I had been in Kentucky when I was little, so my pawrents weren’t sure what I would think of the chilly Minnesota winters. I LOVE THEM! I love to go outside and roll in the snow, I make pommy snow angels!”

“When my siblings and I go to Woofington, we get to do whatever we want. I love playing with my friends and giving kisses to all the people. You will always know when I’m there, I can’t keep my barks inside because I get so excited! I love Woofington!”

The Woofington is hiring for the Summer! We currently have a position open to work Saturdays from 7-5. This would entail pup feedings and working in daycare entertaining the dogs! Bunzie's parents write, "Bunzie is the most adventurous ShiTzu in the world! At just 1 year old he has spent a lot of his time traveling the country with his family and his big brother Copper who he loves very much!"

"Bunzie has seen the tops of mountains, and several national parks and loves driving the truck with his poppa any chance he can get. Being born on May 4 makes him a true star wars baby which is ironic considering he is called an Ewok by almost everyone he meets."
