SOCIALIZATION: when discussed as part of dog training, is not meant to be meeting every person and dog they see…. It is about learning to be neutral around other people and dogs and learn to be relaxed to new sounds and in new environments.

I have heard the the requests and I am ready to strike back up some group classes! Other than loose leash walking and reactivity class, what are some other topics you would all like to have me present?
Please comment with a topic and your location so I can make appropriate accommodations! I would be happy to cover just about anything from basic training theories, specific behavior tasks as in recall or fetching, introduction to sport dogs, or even veterinary related topics such as nutrition or fitness. I am eager to hear what you want so we can make it happen!!

I finally bit the bullet, jumped out if my comfort zone, and defeated some fears! I am pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had working on my material for the scripts and filming this fun opportunity! I am truely excited for the final results.
I am truly thankful for such a great production team who allowed me to feel calm and confident through out whole process.
Thank you to my clients who have been patient this week while towards completing my goals!

“So Sierra…. Why don’t we see more videos of you training??? A lot of other trainers post content all the time”….. well 50% is because I am so focused on training and never think to video, 10% because I rarely have others around to help with a camera, and the last 40% is because I am getting older and life is more about comfort so a lot of times am out in my pajamas even in thunderstorms and not exactly well put together for photo ops 🤪🤣😂

Okay everyone!!! Do you remember how I said recuse is hard when I fostered the 4 bottle baby kittens, well oops… but bare with me and please read 😊
Miss Freya here is a 6mo of GSD that already has a long story and has been to the shelter more than in a home (this was her third time back at truly no fault of her own) but despite that has a very balanced and great personality. She was set to be euthanized on the 17th but shelter staff managed to put it off. I was called in to evaluate her later that week and with the help from iRescue ended up pulling her that weekend. The entire shelter was thrilled as some ACOs thought they would have to throw down their badges if she was put down.
SO HERE IS THE CATCH…. This is not something I can do often but upon evaluation of this dog I saw some amazing potential. Everyone wants to beg for dogs to be rescued but once they are out of the shelter the voices quickly fade and getting help is a struggle. I am not a rescue and I have limited space at my house for board and trains so this becomes a big deal if I take on a dog. I am reaching out to my clients, friends, and family to ask for donations towards her care, food, and training.
I think Freya would make a great family pet but think she would be phenomenal for search and rescue, game tracking, or scent work sports. I am so very thankful for Nicole, the owner of The Prancing Puppy Inn, for helping take her in until I have an opening for training after the 2nd. Nicole has helped work on potty training which is going great and has been able to allow Freya to socialize with her other personal dogs which show us that she is good with others, has a great recall already, and can play fetch. After the 2nd, she will come stay with me for a full 30 days of obedience training and I will undoubtedly work on some tracking with her to further developed her love for scent work. The hope is to hopefully have a home lined up for her upon completion but if that does not occur I will need someone who can foster her and keep up with everything she learned while with me. If anyone knows anyone that is a hunter and would like a great companion and tracker, a fun prospect for search and rescue or scent sports, or just a loving pet please have them reach out to me. She is spayed, UTD on vaccines and preventatives.

I don’t understand where people started developing the idea that young children need dogs to play with 🥴 getting a kid a dog should be more for an age where you are teaching that child responsibility and how to properly care for another being, not a playmate. Even good dogs accidentally hurt children.

To every high and every low, to every success and even fails, to my stubbornness and willpower that has combated my uncertainty and insecurity, to the friends, family, and clients who have supported me and even to those who discouraged me which only pushed me harder… I am thankful!!! Thankful for it all and for who it is molding me to be. The possibilities are unlimited if you let them be ❤️‍🔥

I can not put into perspective to most, the amount of hard work and stress that comes with training a dog for Schutzhund let alone working two dogs as well as helping be in charge of putting on the whole event. There were some seriously trying times but at the end we did it!!!

Our Fort Worth German Shepherd Dog Club had a wonderful and successful trial. Thanks to a wonderful couple for opening their home to us and allowing us to use their property for the trial field. We were also blessed with two families that offered their fields for tracking. We had the very experienced judge, Wendall Nope, who provided very fair critiques as well as explained how and why for every score. I learned so much from him. We were lucky to have very knowledgeable tracklayers Shawn and Rachel who were greatly appreciated! Last but not least a major thank you to Damon Jones for some incredible helper work!!! It takes so many people to make this event happen and it’s beautiful when it all comes together so well.

Nothing excites me more than updates from my clients, especially with my game tracking dogs! Kimber was a behavior evaluation that then came for a 30 day board and train. I quickly determined this dog LOVES to use her nose and questioned the owners if they hunt (yay, they do!) and got permission to focus on some game tracking while I had her. We trained hard and the owner has done a phenomenal job continuing with my instructions. She had a few great confident tracks last season and quickly this season she was put to the true test when they lost track of the deer and could not find a blood trail….. Kimber air scented at first and then her nose dropped to the ground and she was on it! She did an amazing job and found that deer in no time!!! I can not express enough how excited and proud I am of this dog and handler team!! 🥰🎯🦌
