Nothing excites me more than updates from my clients, especially with my game tracking dogs! Kimber was a behavior evaluation that then came for a 30 day board and train. I quickly determined this dog LOVES to use her nose and questioned the owners if they hunt (yay, they do!) and got permission to focus on some game tracking while I had her. We trained hard and the owner has done a phenomenal job continuing with my instructions. She had a few great confident tracks last season and quickly this season she was put to the true test when they lost track of the deer and could not find a blood trail….. Kimber air scented at first and then her nose dropped to the ground and she was on it! She did an amazing job and found that deer in no time!!! I can not express enough how excited and proud I am of this dog and handler team!! 🥰🎯🦌

It has been a very busy last several months working with these two littermates, Atticus & Warden in preparation for their Schutzhund IGP1 trial. So much hard work and dedication as well as curbing my training methods to fit each dog of whom are completely different dogs despite having the same parents.
Schutzhund is a 3 phase competition with tracking, obedience and protection. It is a lot for both the dog and the handler making this one of the toughest and also most humbling dog sports. Thank you to Lone Star Schutzhund Club with Judge Don Yelle and helper Eric for a great trial!!!!
Atticus scored a 91, 72, 80 earning his IGP1 title and I am very proud of that goof ball. Warden scored a 90 in her tracking with great complements from the judge, 71 obedience, and was looking better than her brother in protection until the last long bite where she came off the sleeve and away from the helper, even though she went back to him for the bark and hold it still caused her to DQ. As my friend stated well, “she missed her title by just 15ft”. Overall a lot of mixed emotions but I know we worked hard and did our best! We could not have done it without help and support from Rachel, Kenny, Ashley and everyone from group training!
A huge thank you to their owner Camille for trusting me with her dogs for the last several months and building this foundation in them for this sport. I hope to see them continue on and do more great thing!!!

There has been more and more evidence to not spay/neuter too soon depending on the breed and I am hear for it but REMEMBER… not spay/neutering your dog comes with very high responsibilities and there is still zero guarantees that it will prevent HD, cancer, and such. It is not an exact science and there are several other factors to consider when making the decision!

**UPDATE!**
Cheeto has been adopted into a perfect family with another high energy female Heeler mix and they are getting along beautifully 🥰🥰!!! Could not have asked for a better home for him!

We are looking for a foster or adoption for this handsome boy, Cheeto! He has just finished 60 days of training and has come so far!!
Cheeto is a young adult about 70lbs. He would make a great active pet and enjoys hiking. He has an amazing nose in him and would possibly excel with some scent or tracking work!
He is crate trained and will lay in it with the door open. Not destructive at all. He enjoys playing with other dogs, has been good around cats, does not seem too interested in the horses, and has done great with my 12yr old child. He has a pretty solid place command and stay, knows sit, down, spin, roll over and heel. He has some off leash training started as well and a great recall! Enjoys riding in the car and has done well in new areas. He is still very interested in other people and dogs but listens to his commands, just needs continued exposure to the big world out there!

This is why having dedicated breeders that work with their pups and/or setting boundaries while starting training early (as soon as you bring them home) is so important. When you can alter bad behavior at a young age life it becomes so much easier when the are full grown!

Things were certainly eventful last weekend in the world of Schutzhund! Board and train pups Warden (sable) & Atticus (black) obtained their BH-VT titles in obedience. My personal dog R***r was awarded his IGP2 title (tracking, obedience and protection) with a score of 276/300. Despite coming down with the flu and having a fever Saturday evening I somehow woke up early Sunday morning and biked the required 12miles with Warden to earn her AD (endurance) title. I feel very accomplished and also very close to death door step after it is now all said and done 🤣😂 I apologize for delayed responses and any reschedule appointments while I recover.

I want to take a moment to share my thanks to all of my clients, friends, family and my clients who have turned into friends and family!!! I am so grateful for how successful my business has been and it would not be possible without each and every one of you! All of your reviews, word of mouth, and recommendations have kept me busy without creating a single advertisement, it’s just amazing! This adventure over the years remains incredibly rewarding! Each and every dog has a special place in my heart and I love watching them all thrive with training and continue to improve even past all my training! Never take anything, especially life, for granted. Roanix is one of the first dogs that I was made fun of for doing something so far from breed standard with in training. This Heeler pup had a nose on her and while I was tracking my GSD I went ahead and got her on the program just for fun. Despite the weird looks I got for tracking with a cattle dog, she turned into one of the best game tracking pups at only 6mo of age. She had since been rehomed due to no fault of her own and I am glad she was put with one of the most amazing pet parents I could have ever found for her! There are still so many unknowns in the medical world and we exhausted every avenue possible for her but unfortunately, at 16 month young, her time with us was up and she had finished her earthly duties and has gone over the rainbow bridge but she will forever hold special place in my heart!

This!!!! Read it, then read it again….

The recipes are identical. Give them whatever they want, whenever they want it. Set few boundaries, and enforce even fewer. Have flimsy, undemanding behavioral standards. Let them walk all over you without consequence. Want them to be happy far more than you want them to be good.

Of course, if we want the opposite, for both, it’s just as straightforward… do the opposite. Make them earn what they desire. Have firm boundaries and enforce these boundaries just as firmly. Set rigorous, demanding, non-negotiable standards for all aspects of behavior. Ensure that conscious disrespect is an exquisitely unsavory endeavor. Know that making them feel safe and helping them to be socially competent by way of a predictable, reliable, and demanding framework will make them happy, and good.
