Looks like Tara got all caught up on washing her show boots…. Anyone who knows Tara knows that she is “specific” about how she does things and wants them done. Washing show boots is no exception! I’m just glad we have enough appliances in the kitchen to hang them all properly to dry!🤣

The countdown to THE RUN FOR A MILLION is on! The horses have to be checked in on Monday and I’m still not 100% sure who I’m going to show. I’ve had Smooth As Mercedes since she was a late two year old. I’m the only one who has ever shown her or worked her since we got her. We’ve made hundreds of runs together and she has never let me down. She hadn’t worked a cow since the NCHA Open World Finals in December. I worked her Tuesday and Wednesday and then took her to show on Thursday. She felt as reliable as she has her whole career. She will definitely be in the trailer to Vegas when we load up but I still have until Thursday morning to decide.
A huge thank you to Jim and Marsha Vangilder who allowed me to show their great mare Driven Miss Sallie to qualify for this exciting event last year in October. Sallie and I marked a 225 to win the go round out of 120 horses.

Tara took a video of Chucky supervising me working the 3 year olds. He finally went and stood in the corner as if he was holding the herd once he realized he couldn’t make the mechanical cow stop as if he was turning back. He is 21 years old this year. I have used him to turnback on at the last 17 Super Stakes.. it is still really weird not to be in Fort Worth this month. As you can see he is healthy, happy and just as eager to get back on the road as the rest of us!

Every night the last thing Tara and I do before we go to bed is one last walk through the barn. We feed all the horses cookies, put what blankets on that are necessary for the night and just make sure everyone is tucked in and happy. As you all know; Special Nu Baby is my favorite horse. She is so special to me and will forever be my "Baby". Tara refers to her as the "other woman" in my life which is funny but I do spoil her and try to make her feel special every day. Tonight Tara captured Baby giving me our goodnight kisses. Goodnight everyone!
Tara took this video tonight as we were putting blankets on. This is Smooth Nu Cat a 4 year old gelding I show owned by Gary & Shannon Barker. He is a Smooth As A Cat out of Baby. He loves to be scratched and he isn't shy about telling you where he wants you to scratch him. I hope this gives you a good laugh. Enjoy!
This video made me laugh so hard! We are down in Schulenburg working 3 year olds. Tara was turning back on Chucky and videoing at the same time. Anyone who has ever used Chucky in the arena knows that when he decides to take off after a cow, he does! With or without you! I know the feeling all too well! Anyway, I thought it was funny and wanted to share it. The horse I'm working is one that I will show in Ft Worth at the NCHA Futurity. He is a Smooth As A Cat out of Baby.
