Update from Teal Collar/Teal like the duck! We eagerly anticipate her return to CWRT for training in a few weeks. She hails from the Roxy Diesel March 2024 litter, and we are thrilled with the results. CWRT is considering breeding these two again in 2025 due to the exceptional quality of their pups. Mr. Cash is back for boarding! He's a bit bigger than last year and our son didn't recognize him at first.

Dogs that are trained at CapeWest R&T, are welcome back for boarding. Standard nightly rates apply & its based on availability, if you plan in advance we can schedule training drop offs around boarding demand. We love having training dogs back & its a good training tune up!

Luka with his first duck retrieve. Starting to understand what all the fuss is about.

Luka is a 3yr old lab that his family wants him to improve on his obedience and see if there is a chance for him to get into the gundog world. We will keep building Luka up from here to get him tuned in and make sure he’s up for the challenge of hunting.

Miss Sadie, born from the Roxy Diesel breeding in Q1 '24, is thriving. Our intention for this breeding was to produce trainable dogs of high quality, and the feedback confirms our success. We're delighted with the pups and will likely repeat the breeding.

Miss Winnie is staying at CapeWest for a mini board and train program. She's a tiny teacup yorkee. For her safety, no other dogs can be out when she's taken out. She's so cute!

Sometimes you have to change up some things for a specific dog to understand. Pete hasn’t been understanding heel doing it my normal way so I added a tennis ball in the mix. He nailed it 6/6 times we tried it with the tennis ball. I could have continued down my normal path and he probably would have eventually got it. But this just sped up the learning curve.

Pete is here for basic obedience and Luka is here for obedience as well but with the potential for gundog.

Mr. Reef found new humans! We are thrilled for them and us since they have opted to keep Reef with us while he is being trained to be an obedient house dog and started gun dog. We call this a “raise & train” program. It will be offered with all our future litters along with just puppy and/or basic obedience programs as well.

Mr Reef here is a fetching machine & love toy time on place.

Good article on secondary DCM suggested by . Seems it’s not necessarily grain free but pensils(peas, chickpeas, lentils and dry beans) and potatoes that starting to link it. It has research studies at the bottom of the article that I find interesting. Link below if you’re interested.

Seems like we not only now have to figure out how to read the ingredient lists of our own food, but our dogs’ food too.

Skeeter Skeeter pumpkin eater update!!! One lucky pup right here!!! The owner’s wife surprised the husband on his Birthday with a deposit on the pick of the litter when she found us last Spring of 2024. He knew right away which one was his. And life doesn’t get much better then this!

Want a puppy that is wicked smart? One that has lived with a dog trainer? This is seriously the best age to get a puppy who is on his way to being an obedient house dog & has working potential. His nose is amazing.

Mr Reef is a 15 weeks old, crate trained, name trained, has great recall, waits for name before eating. Rides great in cars! Started on place work and obedience.

Mr Reef’s first humans had to send him back to us bc of a dog allergy. We know what a great dog he is & his potential. We are trying to recover some of the puppy fee and training for the 1st owner. Reef is worth every penny & more then what we are asking but he isn’t free.

Ruger is back for a tune up before hunting season starts. Starting off training with memory retrieves. He hesitates at first then knocks out this 79 yard memory. When he left, Ruger really struggled with memories. Sometimes a break is a good thing! Jack and Bailey did a great job keeping up with his training while he was home and added memories in there.

Mr Reef is available from the Deisel/Roxy litter born on March 18, 2024. He is a smart & sweet one. He has lived with us as dog trainers for most of his 4 months on earth he comes really well trained, knows his name, comes when called, place, sit & eats on command. He is available as of July 4, 2024. Reef, my tool carrier while working on the dog kennels this afternoon. He wanted to carry it around so I made it a retrieving game for him.

Not only do we breeed puppies but we’ll train them too!!! Pups go home at 8 weeks but we offer 2 spots each litter to stay till they’re 12 weeks old. After the 4 week training they will be crate trained, know their name, come when called know to sit, leave it, no & how to identify a place board. Skeeter & Reef at play. These are puppies born in March 18 2024, who stayed with is for puppy start training. They will be well on their way to a well mannored house dog when the are given to ther humans. Both these dogs have owner. We are planning to breed our black 3 year old Natty to a yellow sire from Irland in July & will confirm her pregnancy in August. Mr Bones went home yesterday. He was here for intro to gundog. Gundog training isn’t just about teaching the dogs how to go and get something. Being able to harness that impulse to just go is part of the fun too. Here is a video of how feeding started out and how it ended with Bones.
