“Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.”

Ollie and I had a super busy weekend! On Saturday we spent the day at a ranch clinic and had an all day ranch show on Sunday. That was a lot for a 2 year old, but he was a champ all weekend! He was the reserve youth high point at the ranch show which is amazing considering he was the youngest one there 😆 I believe we showed in around 8 classes so it was a very long day for him. I am super excited about this boys future ❤️

Aspen and I are back home in Texas! I wanted to update everyone on how our show weekend went. If you didn’t know, we traveled to Kentucky to compete in Americas Top Next Youth Trainer, the competition we’ve been training for since December. Aspen managed 4th in trail and 10th overall. Unfortunately, Aspen did not travel well and developed some ulcers that were treating. She also went into heat Saturday so the odds were not in our favor. However, this girl blew me out of the water. Aspen has been the hardest horse I have ever worked with and was way out of my skill set. Without the help of more experienced trainers guiding me, there is no way this mare and I would have been able to compete. For those of you who don’t know, last year I broke my arm in a horse accident and had to have surgery. I was not able to work with horses for several months and lost a lot of my confidence. I then received Aspen as my first Mustang since my injury. This horse basically made me start over ever single day for 4 months. She was terrified of me and would bolt at everything. I was pretty sure we would never make it to the competition and I would end up returning her to the BLM. I decided to just push through and see what happens. Slowly but surely she became more comfortable with me on the ground. Then I began riding her 😆 Anytime I rode her she just wanted to take off, duck, and weave as fast as she could. I honestly dreaded riding her for several months. Luckily my mentor, Byron Hogan, pushed me to keep riding her. It was not easy but I now can confidently ride her and have fun! Aspen was never suited for arena life, she much rather would be out doing a job. When we arrived at the horse park this girl was extremely calm around the bikes, scooters, golf carts, kids, cars, etc. I rode her all over the park and she was rock solid. Being able to do that made all those hard days worth it ❤️ We may not have done very well in the competition but I could not be happier with this girl. TSD Photography

Update from Kentucky.. Not going great 🤣

Aspen is doing everything I am asking her to do, so for that I am proud of her. She is however, letting everyone know that she does not want to be doing it. She didn’t travel well and is not eating well either, so we have her on ulcer meds and hope she starts feeling a little better tomorrow 🤞

Aspen and I are headed to Kentucky! I also wanted to let you know that this mare is available. She a 3 yo standing at 14.3 hh and is green broke under saddle. She has experience working cows, hauling, and in the arena. She has a solid liberty foundation and knows some tricks. This mare is hard working and would excel in a home that could give her a job. She is slow to trust new people but would do great with someone who is consistent with her. Great ground manners, good for the farrier, etc. If you’re interested please reach out to me! I’m super excited to announce that Nala was the youth grand champion of the The Fort Worth Mustang Show. This filly put her head down and went to work all weekend earning 1st, 1st, and 2nd. I also wanted to remind everyone that this girl is still looking for her forever home ❤️ Thank you to everyone who helped out at the show this weekend, everyone who has helped me train Nala, and a big shoutout to all the competition. It was definitely a super competitive group of mustangs, and a very close race! This filly definitely gave me a run for my money beginning, but she was 100% worth all the hard work. She is one the most friendly, good-minded, and consistent fillys I’ve had! She is going to go on to do great things 😁 TSD Photography EspanaSilk Grooming Products

Introducing the newest member of my team, Hibrows Cat Eyz, aka Ollie🐴 He’s a 2 year old c**t out of SGRF Freckles Hibrow x Tyrees Flick Bar. As of right now he has about 120 days on him and we went to his first show last weekend. He was entered in the ranch reining and ranch riding and won both of his classes 😆 I am super excited about his future and plan to show him in ranch versatility.
