If y’all have not jumped on the Solo Select Horses Slinky bandwagon yet, you absolutely should.

-It’s a thick material so it’s not going to rip easily and will actually add some warmth when layering blankets.

-It’s true to size and does not run small like most (at least the two different sizes I ordered were right on the money).

-The eye holes are actually large enough. No more having to worry about if your horse is wondering its stall blind because its slinky is covering its eyes.

-The velcro belly band? Amazing. The Velcro is practically industrial strength. A+.

-It has a metal, full length zipper that’s easy to use and metal clips for the leg straps. Oh and the leg straps? They’re wide, soft material, and a great length so they won’t be hanging down at their hocks after a few months.

-Added Bonus’: They come in these super handy little storage bags and the shipping was fast.

We’re seeing stars with this one🤩 If you’re in the market for a prospect, here’s one to take notice of! This 3yr old gelding by VS Code Blue out of a producing daughter of Gotta Get Tuff truly has everything to go do whatever you want in the show pen; from the ranch and pleasure classes to hunter classes, but I know a few Code Blues that are making it in the roping pen and I wouldn’t be surprised if Deacon shined in that event too!

We’re so blessed and thankful for the horses that come through our program and for the relationships that are forged around them. Nugget and Sarah fully embraced their AA status in the dressage world this morning getting a wonderful lesson with silver and bronze USDF medalist, Lindsay Cooper, at the clinic put on at Glorious Way Ranch. This was Nugget’s first time to be asked to ride under english tack and boy did he step up to the plate. We can’t wait for this spring and summer to get here and start hitting a few shows with Nugget, both in the ranch versatility world and maybe a few combined training shows!!

Let’s start the new year off with some champagne that’s safe and legal for everyone to enjoy and can be enjoyed on a budget! If you’re needing as close to an insurance policy in horse form as you can get, this is the guy. Dorado is a 16yr old, 14.3hh, amber champagne gelding that’s the type you can throw anyone on and know they will be safe. From doing ranch work to trail riding to riding in the arena he is unflappable, straightforward to ride, and will always be one of if not the most unique looking horse in the group. He’s the type that you can’t wipe the smile off your face when you’re riding him because he’s that fun.

Dorado came across the southern border in 2018 and has been with the same family since here in Texas. He’s been used for basic ranch work (gathering/sorting/pasture roping) from south Texas to east Texas, used up at the sale barns, been trail rode everywhere in between, and has been the mount for the grandkids to ride around the ranch. Out on the ranch, Dorado makes even a long day enjoyable and go by quickly with his ground covering walk, his smooth trot, and his rocking chair type lope. He’s easy to use in the pens to sort some off and won’t object to the extra work if one needs roped. In the arena, Dorado won’t be the fanciest horse there but does everything with ease. He’s one hand broke, comes to a stop easily, will step right into a lope, picks up the correct leads, and won’t go faster than what’s asked of him. On the trails he’s the point and shoot type. There is nothing this gelding won’t cross and he has no problem making his own trail if you feel like going off the beaten path. Dorado is great with traffic, crosses all types of bridges, handles uneven terrain well, crosses water, and is pedestrian friendly. You can ride him ba****ck in a halter with no problems or ride him in any bit you want, ride him when it's sunny and 75° or ride him in the freezing sleet and Dorado is going to be the exact same for it all. Our 3yr old little boy, who isn’t a super confident kiddo, has ridden Dorado a ton and Dorado has never made us question our boy’s safety no matter the conditions or where Stetson has ridden him at; whether it’s just above freezing with 20mph wind gusts, riding out in the open, or riding in a brand new location. Dorado has always been patient with Stetson and has always taken care of him. When it comes to how he handles time off, we know for a fact you can leave Dorado off for 2yrs, saddle him up, and he will ride off like he’s been being ridden everyday as the first time we rode him he had been off that long for no other reason than his owner wasn’t able to ride. Dorado is gentle to be around, stands tied like a gentleman for everything, will ground tie for the farrier, doesn’t object if you want to ride him double with a friend, will let you crawl all over, around, and under him without so much as shifting his weight, and loads right up in a trailer like one should. He’s as tried and true as they get in our opinion.

Dorado has no bumps or scars on any legs, passed his recent health and lameness exam with flying colors, has never required any type of maintenance care, and has had no previous health or lameness issues. He has a ton of bone with fantastic, hard feet that he’s always been barefoot on with no issues no matter the terrain as well. Dorado is UTD on all care from teeth to feet and has a recent health and lameness exam on file that can be viewed on his page on our website. This is a nice, solid gelding ready to give someone confidence in the saddle or just be the horse you can always rely on.

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲!🥶

With this big cold front blowing in, here’s a few things to remember with your horse…

🌾𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁! Horses eat on average 2% of their body weight in forage already (1,000lbs = 20lbs) and will increase their consumption by 1% when cold (extra 10lbs for 1,000lbs horse). The required digestible energy (DE) intake for a healthy, adult horse to maintain its weight, on top of the average forage amount they consume day to day, will increase by 2.5% per degree below 5°F and a yearling's DE will increase 1.3% per degree below 12°F. Don’t be scared to throw an extra flake or two to your horse this week or allow them to have free choice hay. They’ll generate more internal warmth while digesting it and won't lose a ton of calories from trying to keep warm without the increase in forage.
💧𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻, 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿! Horses can dehydrate easily in cold weather so be sure your water troughs and buckets are clean and make sure to break the ice frequently if you don’t have a trough heater. Horses are also less likely to drink cold water so consider boiling a pot or two of water to add to their buckets and troughs periodically. You may also want to leave out some loose salt and minerals or administer some electrolytes to help keep your horse drinking as well.
🌡️𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲, however wind and precipitation play a big factor into this. Check under your horse’s armpit to see how warm they truly are to help figure out how heavy to blanket them if you choose to do so.
👀𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 ➜ Shivering, cold ears and extremities, tucked up posture, lack of movement, changes in behavior, and of course if they’re cold under their blanket. If your horse begins to exhibit any of these behaviors, try your best to slowly warm them up; offering a warm mash mix is a great way to get them some calories and warm them up from the inside out.
🦵🏼𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲, be sure to pay attention to how they’re getting around. Normal joints are surrounded by synovial fluid, which helps to lubricate and protect the joint. When the temperature drops, synovial fluid thickens, leading to less protection, pain, and stiffness. In addition, horses that are already arthritic will suffer from heightened aggravation of the joint, as well as inflammation and pain. Keeping the joints lubricated and keeping horses warm and moving is very important.

Bundle up when you go outside, cover your faucets, drain your hoses, and we’ll get through this cold snap without a hitch! Happy winter weather season!❄️

2025 marks these two half-siblings start into the big horse world of getting started slowly but surely! We've had them awhile, but have (a little selfishly) been hiding them out because how often do you find champagne draft crosses?! We're excited to see what they become over the next few years and who knows, maybe one day one of them can be yours!

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙙! We’re so thankful and grateful to everyone that made our first year an absolute success. We had a high seller of $50k, went to our favorite sales, met some incredible people, and our horses went to fantastic homes all across the country! We’re looking forward to what 2025 has in store for us and we hope everyone has a great and safe New Year’s Eve🤍

Peanut Butter is a 2021 draft cross mare that we’ve owned since she was a weanling. Although we did start her and she took to riding without a hitch, we purchased her for the sole intention to be our broodmare. HS Pocos Slim Shady is a 6yr old, AQHA registered gelding that we had originally planned to offer as our Christmas horse as he’s a complete unicorn type, but as most of you know he had to have kissing spine surgery.
