My latest custom quilt!

I was told it was for a baby boy with a room theme/color scheme of deer, navy blue, & copper! I ordered all of these fabrics through different shops on Etsy & I am SO happy with how it came together!

Hi! 👋🏻 My name is Alyssa and I am the face behind SewLyss! I'm not sure I have ever formally introduced myself on my page, so here I am! Here are a few things about me: I am 29 years old, a wife of 9 years, and a momma to our 9 month old daughter + 2 dogs and a cat!

You know how icebreakers usually include a "fun fact" about yourself? Anyone else feel like they're super terrible at coming up with those? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Me too, so I thought it’d be *fun* to come up with 5 "fun facts" about me to share with you!

1. I love dogs but am a cat person at heart, always & forever. 🐈
2. I have always considered myself to have what they call a black thumb but have recently gotten into keeping plants in my house & now I'm really loving it! 🌱🌵I've only killed one plant so far so I call that a win!
3. I graduated from Texas A&M with a Bachelor's in Psychology (2012) 👩🏻‍🎓, then went back to school at Blinn and got my Associate's in Veterinary Technology (2018) 🩺, and am currently using neither of those degrees (SAHM 👩‍👧).
4. By choice I don't eat beef or pork because one day a couple of years ago, I watched something on Netflix that made my heart hurt too much. 🐄🐖
5. I started quilting simply because I love fabric and I figured that was the only way to justify always buying it! 🪡

Today I want to introduce y'all to the hardest working member of my team - my sewing machine!

My husband gifted her to me for Christmas when we lived in Virginia back in 2014 and she has helped me create SO many different things. I started my business with her and she has been a trusty companion through it all! She helped me make my first quilt and we have made many more since.

She has a lot of really cool functions that I honestly have not been utilizing but plan to explore those more in the near future so I can use her to her greatest potential!

The only thing missing with her is a name. I can't believe after all these years, I haven't named this gorgeous thing! What would you name her?
