The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

Miss ✨PEANUT✨ came to see us after ingesting some cooking grease covered in a chemical cleaner.

Her parents called Pet Poison Help Line immediately, and with their recommendation, rushed her to us.

We are happy to report that she got very lucky and had no chemical burns or ulcerations! She was able to be treated with outpatient therapy and LOTS of kisses from our team. ❤️

We loved having you with us Peanut! We hope you’re already feeling much better!

Mr. ✨ENZO✨ was the best sport for his treatments!

He was feeling under the weather, and his parents brought him in for care.

He was a ball of energy and gave us all the kisses by the end of his reservation with us! He even wanted cuddles from our team member during treatments.

While you’re prepping for tomorrow’s feast, keep these tips in mind to keep your furry family safe:
🍗 Watch the menu. Avoid sharing turkey bones, rich foods, or anything with onions, garlic, or spices.
🧺 Secure the trash. Curious noses can find harmful leftovers.
🍫 Skip the sweets. Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are toxic to pets.

Halloween is tomorrow! 👻 Before the fun starts, let’s make sure your pets stay safe:
🍬 Hide the candy - Chocolate and sugar-free treats can be toxic, so keep them far from curious noses.
🕯️ Skip the candles - Battery-operated lights are a safer bet around wagging tails.
🚪 Calm the chaos - If your pet gets nervous with all the doorbell ringing, set them up in a quiet room with their favorite toy.
🦴 Keep costumes comfy - If your pet's not into dressing up, a festive collar works just as well!

When his owner noticed he was having trouble walking, they brought him straight to UrgentVet. After some quick care, Teddy was ready to head home and rest up comfortably.

Tate the cat got himself into quite a catch! 🐟

This adventurous kitty ran out of the house and came back with a fish hook stuck in his paw. His owner rushed him to UrgentVet, where we carefully removed the hook and made sure he was comfortable.

A bee tried to ruin Bentley’s walk, but we weren’t having it! 🐾 After limping into UrgentVet, we found a stinger lodged between his toes. We removed it, gave him a pain-relief injection, and now Bentley’s back to his playful self! 💙🐝

Mr ✨SHADOW✨ came in for a ingesting how humans medication. He is 9 months old and so very sweet!! His pawrents rushed him right to us as it happened, and called ASPCA Poison Control while they drive over.
