The Village Vet Your Other Family Doctor
Located at 40 Webster Commons Blvd. Webster, NY 14580
(63)

The Village Vet was founded in 2006 by Dr. Kelly Gough, who had worked at another vet clinic in Webster for many years. Dr. Gough purchased the legendary dive bar, Marv's, on Ridge Road in Webster and turned it into The Village Vet. Today the clinic employs 13 people, all from the Webster area, and has three Veterinarians.

Are you a high school student that is interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine? If so, we may have a great paid opportunity for you!

The Village Vet is looking to hire a part-time “Clinic Attendant” to help facilitate our day to day work flow. The job would entail after school and evening duties to keep our clinic in tip top shape, such as laundry (there is lots of it!) stocking inventory, kennel management, and care of our two clinic cats, just to name a few.

Did we mention you would get to see some cute patients and some really neat medical procedures?!

If you are interested, or know somebody that would be, please send an email to our Office Manager at [email protected]

Happy Eclipse Day!😎

Happy Eclipse Day!😎

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.

With that in mind, here is a helpful FAQ relating to your canine friends and the upcoming eclipse.

Q: Do dogs actually need to wear eclipse glasses?
A: Dogs will not stare at the sun, and though Speck (pictured) likes to model them, it is not necessary for your dog to wear glasses.

Q: Can the eclipse harm dogs?
A: Your dog can safely be outside with you. They are much more likely to look at you than the sun, but they might look up briefly if they were to see a bird fly by.

Q: Will dogs act differently during the eclipse?
A: Most dogs will not exhibit dramatic changes in behavior, but they might act like it is bedtime. Some dogs may act confused or anxious.

Q: What should I do for my dog during the eclipse?
A: It is probably best to avoid both large crowds and leaving your dog in a car unattended. Keep your dog safe on a leash or indoors in a space where they feel comfortable. It is always a good idea to have your dog identified with an ID tag and/or a microchip in case they were to wander.
