Meet Miss Eileen (I-lean) our 5 day old survivor gosling! When Miss Eileen hatched I knew something wasn’t quite right.
She constantly threw her head backwards and laid her head on her back. This caused her to flip backwards and get stuck on her back. I found her this way in the morning laying there shaking.
I knew intervention was needed or death was inevitable. We did water therapy and nutrient therapy. When that didn’t cut it I wrapped her in a blanket making a brace for her. We then packed her in this tote to secure her neck in the correct position and her legs underneath her.
By the evening she was able to stand and even take a few steps. I put her in with her siblings and when I checked on her the next morning she was snuggled up with her siblings not flipped over. Today she is acting like a normal gosling 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Sometimes a little extra TLC is what these babies need. My rule with all our farm animals is simple...if they are willing to fight I’ll do everything I can for them. This is one of the success stories. Unfortunately it doesn’t always turn out this was...but that’s farmlife.
