Meet Coco, a 12-year-old Bichon Poodle Mix battling severe anxiety and exhibiting reactive, fear-based behaviors. Having been dismissed by multiple groomers, Coco's journey with me began as a last resort. We initiated her first session with a complete shave down, providing a clean slate. Is that Benji?!? 🤯🤯🤯Hey everyone, this is Benji. He is a 5 year old Chihuahua with severe anxiety/aggression toward grooming, but especially with the blow dryer!!! We have tried to desensitize him to getting blow dried but every attempt has failed due to extreme fear to the point where he has tried to bite off my hand and has even damaged my dryer with his teeth and nails!Here at Kiki’s Grooming Services, we practice Fear Free methods and at no point should an animal in our care be so upset or scared that they feel the need to bite or attack. His parents expressed that he had gone almost a year without a bath or groom due to his severe aggression. With every attempt failed, we turned to medication. This is Howie. He came to me for the first time last week and I asked mom to come back today to offer Howie a Free Nail Trim to help bring back his nails some more my as I noticed they were really outgrown and his quicks were too long last week for me to get them at the length mom and I desired. Howie is also extremely sensitive to having his paws touched and nails trimmed!! I didn’t save the video from last week but ya’ll I am SO PROUD of Howie. The behavior in this video is a complete 180 to his first visit with me. Last week I had to use the groomers helper and a muzzle to keep him from biting me. Today he let me give him kisses and cuddles throughout without a fight and we were able to get his nails done in under 5 mins! I am truly impressed with his behavior today and the strong relationship we built in just a week! That’s the Fear Free Way we like to do things around here! Mom has agreed to keep Howie on a 4 week schedule rotating with nails every 4 weeks, and a bath and nails every 8 weeks.
