We’ve often given you glimpses into our personal lives, so today, instead of an animal, we’re featuring a really cool kid for . It’s our Tucker’s sixth birthday!!! Tuck is smart, generous, thoughtful, inquisitive, and full of life and excitement. He has a question for everything and finds joy everywhere he goes. His love for Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney World, Christmas, dinosaurs, the water, science, and art run deep. He looks and acts so much like his Daddy, with a little of his Mommy’s drama and excitement thrown in for good measure 😜💙. He’s one of the coolest kids we know! So check out a few pics of this for ! (Note- they aren’t in date order. As most mom’s do, I spent the morning looking through pictures and kept going back for more because he’s just too cute! 😜).

Based on the conditions of the roads, we’ve decided our staff should stay home today. However, James will be up there for a time to take care of the animals hospitalized/boarding. We’re not sure how long he’ll be there, though, so keep checking Facebook for updates!

We had planned a different post for today but thought it was pertinent to remind everyone to PLEASE be weather-aware and take care of your pets as the winter storm approaches. We are assessing the situation by the hour to determine our hours, but our current plan is to be open tomorrow morning. We may have limited staff as we don’t want our girls on the roads in unsafe conditions, but James will be present.

On this , please be weather aware this week and make sure your furry friends are nice and warm. These temperatures are no joke and we want to be sure your fur babies stay safe!

The Wedowee Merchants Association is all about enhancing our future, so we want you to know more about our amazing community and why it's so important to us. For that reason, each Wednesday, we're going to do a post to share some fun facts, history, and stories you may or may not know. This week's contribution comes from Dana Chandler, a history professor and longtime resident of Wedowee, and provides a "history in a nutshell" to get us started:

Wedowee is located in east-central Alabama's Piedmont Upland, part of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The county seat of Randolph County, Wedowee was an important center of political activity in the eastern part of the state during the nineteenth century. The town is located in a particularly interesting geological area. It is situated in the approximate center of the county (which is rich in mineral resources, having had gold, mica, and copper mines) and is the location of the last active volcano in the South. On the other hand, the town of Wedowee sits in a geologic bowl, surrounded by approximately 100-foot-high ridges, with the only outlet at Wedowee creek, located on the northern side of the town.

Hang with me here because this may be a long post...

You may be wondering, "where are the rest of the 12 Days of Christmas?" To be honest, I had some days planned, but I just completely dropped the ball. The Christmas season is... A LOT... for us moms. It's a lot for everyone. And I just needed to be present and in the moment for two little fellas.

You see, Tuck and Coop didn't choose this journey. Their parents did. While it was one of the best decisions we have ever made in many ways, time has been in short supply for our family in 2024. Owning a business requires everyone to make sacrifices. I can tell the boys occasionally feel neglected based on comments they make. Tucker once asked why we worked all the time, and that was a punch to the gut.

So, I pulled back on my Facebook activity because it was the easiest thing to drop. Things like managing the books and paying the bills still have to get done, but I was spending so much time replying to every comment, thinking of unique things to post, and creating graphics in Canva rather than playing with the boys.

I'm not going to get this time in their lives back. They won't be little for long. I had to make the decision whether I wanted to live in the moment with them or stay glued to my phone, so I lived in the moment. We baked goodies, we watched movies, we went on adventures, we did crafts, we played with toys, and we did very little sleeping during the last two weeks of December.

Now that a new year is upon us, I have made a resolution to better manage my time. I want to be present in this community, because I love interacting with all of you. I don't get the opportunity to see you in the clinic, so this is my chance to socialize with you all. But I also want to be present at home. I have put a lot of thought into how to accomplish this, and I hope that, going forward, I can find that balance.

That being said... to make up for the lack of the rest of the 12 Days of Christmas, let's do 40% off all shirts (long sleeve and short sleeve), sweatshirts, and hats for the week of 1/6/25-1/10/25! If you made it to the end of this post, this is your reward!
