Echo is starting her heat cycle!

We’re hoping for a successful breeding and then healthy pups in a few months!! Let us know if you may be interested in a puppy. We don’t know prices yet or obviously how many there will be etc, but will make a list of those with serious interest to keep in contact with as we navigate the breeding, whelping, and puppy picking process 🩷

Our next group of broilers goes in next week, so we need to clear the freezer from the last group! We have tons of chicken drumsticks available from our June 2024 group of broilers. This meat is still VERY fresh, but due to lack of freezer space, now is your chance to $SAVE$ !

$4/pack. Each pack is between 1-2 pounds. These drumsticks are super meaty and delicious! We have around 50 packs available.

A quick post as I’ve received multiple messages from folks that are requesting dates for their chickens to be processed.

While I appreciate you all sharing our name and our farm, we do NOT butcher our own chickens here on site, nor do we butcher anyone else’s chickens. We raise chickens for pets, eggs, and meat, but we are not set up to process our own birds on site, let alone anyone else’s.

The only local licensed processor that I am personally familiar with is Buckeye Poultry in Shiloh, though I also know they are booked for most, if not all of the summer.

We have restocked most of our products. We’re available this afternoon/evening if you need to grab some last minute chicken for your Father’s Day meal tomorrow. This chicken is in the freezer now but has only been there for a few hours and isn’t completely frozen yet. Ready to throw on the grill for Dad!

“Farmers don’t even really care about their animals”

*takes PTO to come home early to move them to a nice shady spot with a breeze, freshen water, and give them another round of fresh grass before they’re loaded later this evening.

It pulls on my heart strings a little every time I get an animal ready to be processed. Whether that’s a steer, goat, lamb, rabbit, chicken..and an animal that always had the purpose of being raised to the best of my ability to nourish our family and the family of others..it still just makes me a little sad.

We don’t do it because we don’t care about our animals, we do it because we DO care about our animals. We care about the way they’re raised, the feed they consume, the way they’re treated while they’re here. Knowing that we can raise food the way that God intended and give them the best life. Knowing what goes in to every drop and every crumb of the food and water they consume.

Cornish cross chickens are a terminal hybrid breed of chicken and there is NO keeping them as pets. Keeping them alive literally turns to torture and death if they are not processed at the appropriate age. They get too big, they can’t walk or move around, their organs don’t function properly. There is a specific way to raise Cornish cross broiler chickens and we use every bit of the techniques we’ve learned to raise healthy birds that never require antibiotics or added hormones. These chickens live to eat and poop…seriously.

We receive our chicks as day old birds and brood them until they are right around 3 weeks old which is when we move them outside to pasture. We use electric poultry netting to keep them safe and multiple shelters to keep them shaded from the sun and dry on rainy days. They are moved every day (sometimes even twice a day) so that they have a new area of fresh grass to forage, enjoy roaming, and just be chickens.

The primary reason we started raising broilers again was to fill our own freezer with a product we knew we could trust..pasture raised, farm fresh, better than the rubbery store bought chicken. We love that we have the land and ability to raise slightly larger batches of birds, which allow us to offer chicken for sale to other local families to enjoy just as much as we do, but still keep each group small enough to ensure we can properly manage their nutrition and overall wellness.

If you’d like to order some fresh chicken to stock your freezer, please let us know. We will have a fresh batch of meat ready to pick up as soon as this weekend. We can also recommend other local farms that carry additional poultry products that are raised using the same or similar methods.

Yesterday was Echo girl’s 2nd birthday!!!!

She is scheduled for Hip, Elbow and Cardiac OFA testing tomorrow morning, and we’re anxious to see the results!

Fingers crossed for ideal results for her breed. if all goes as planned, hopefully we’ll be able to get her bred and have puppies later this summer!!! 💕💕

**there is nothing wrong with their feathers. This is completely normal-Cornish cross chickens (and some other breeds) go through an awkward stage where they’re a bit naked before their feathers fill in!

She’s 11 and determined to raise money to purchase her own endangered San Clementine Island goat and raise funds to care for said goat.

Is anyone interested in whole chickens? These were processed mid summer 2023 so still plenty fresh, I just need to clear some space before our next batch of broilers is processed!

Chickens are 3-4 pounds. They are not broilers so they’re less “meaty” but should still have a good amount of meat and would make perfect soups too!!

Our roadside stand is still for sale! Could use a fresh coat of paint but it is sturdy!

Approximately 12 feet wide, 8 feet tall, and 10 feet long.

Would be the perfect little farmer’s market traveling stand, roadside stand for farm goods or veggies etc, or could be repurposed to many different things. Comes with a lock box and has one key.

We hauled it home from an hour away at 40-45mph so it does ok on the road but does not have working lights so you’d need to have somebody follow and/or magnetic flashers to put on. We also had the trailer jack welded on. You will need a ball hitch to haul it home.

Pictures of some of our Swedish flower flock and both roos. Most are not crested, I do have one crested hen and one crested roo in the flock so the potential is definitely there. Our flock is all very friendly and neither roo is aggressive in the slightest. This is a great, friendly, curious breed. These are breeder lines from Greenfire Farms. They are not hatchery stock. Add some eggs for hatching to your incubator today 😉

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT:
* Dress for the weather! Be prepared to be in mud! It's Ohio, so, well, you know...! (Maybe bring dry clean shoes or boots to get back into your car?) You are actually doing the steps of tapping trees and gathering sap, so dress for it. (You can skip these muddy steps and go right into the sugarhouse if you would like. )
*Bring cash because some vendors or food concessions are cash only. You don't want to miss out on what they have!
* FREE parking is available in the parking lot off of Butler Road. Your GPS will take you to our address of 6579 Ferry Road Wakeman 44889. The farm is on the corner of Ferry and Butler Roads. There are signs to direct you to and parking lot of of Butler.
*Please do not drive into the grass off of the gravel parking lot. This is really deep mud disguised as grass!

Anybody have an old wooden hay wagon they want to sell or know of one? Doesn’t really have to be road ready as long as I can get it from its current location to my house. 😂 the cheaper the better and I just need it to be able to be moved like 20 feet at a time and have a solid floor. 😅
