Our goal is twofold – to provide homeless pets with loving homes and provide judgement-free advice to well-intentioned human family members to facilitate a happily ever after. We find that guinea pigs are commonly incorrectly perceived as “starter pets” for kiddos, and given up or abandoned when it becomes clear that they can be higher maintenance, more expensive, or more fragile than expected. Did you know that guinea pigs have more bones than humans do? It's true! While adult humans have 206 bones in their bodies, adult guinea pigs have a whopping 258 bones! Amazing, right?

A big milestone is coming up for Sandy girl!

I wasn’t sure if Sandy would ever reach a point to where she would be a candidate for an elective spay, but she’s surprised us every step of the way. Quite frankly, aside from a little hole in her cheek, most would never have any idea at first glance everything she’s been through not even 7 months ago! So come Monday, now at a healthy 1000 grams, Sandy will be losing those pesky ovaries so we don’t have to deal with reproductive disease in the future. I think it’s also a very fitting close to her chapter as a breeder mill pig, tossed aside to die when of no more use. Sterilizing her will help ensure many healthy years to come.

Welcoming Polydactyl Fabio! Fabio was transferred to us from a shelter all the way in New Mexico because he needs a minor surgery. Two of his bonus toes are barely attached; these would have been easy to remove if he was a baby, but because the blood vessels are intact and he’s been dragging them around for a few years we are recommending surgical removal. He came in filthy, matted, and skinny and is being treated for lice and receiving supplements to boost his weight and nutritional status prior to the procedure. In the meantime, will you help us raise the funds to get him taken care of before his vet appointment?

Little Miss Moira is a sweet old girl who was surrendered to us a few days ago. She's at least 7 years old, but believed to be MUCH older (close to 10!).

She spent her life being well cared for and handled by a young boy who grew up and recently went off to college. She is social, loves veggies and seems to be in great spirits.

We did find a grape-sized mass and she's off to the vet this week for a biopsy. Finding a new home for her could prove difficult, but we are hopeful!Would you help us continue to show Miss Moira a life of love? The vet visit will be between $100-250 depending on what they find.
