Vicki Baker & Ashley Carr Eventing

Vicki Baker & Ashley Carr Eventing Vicki Baker is an internationally recognized advanced event rider and a gifted teacher. Available for lessons, coaching, and clinics.

Vicki is a friendly and positive teacher and trainer. Whether it’s bravely galloping cross country, developing confidence and grace in dressage, or meeting that perfect spot in show jumping, Vicki has the knowledge and skill to help all levels from the beginner to the advanced rider develop confidence and improve performance! “I’ve always enjoyed teaching – to watch a horse and rider as the team d

evelops and achieves its goals is very satisfying to me. I believe in positive reinforcement for both horse and rider and utilizing sports psychology as well as physical development to produce a team that believes in themselves! Once you accomplish this, anything is possible!”

What sets Vicki apart is that she is also a talented and skilled Orthopedic Physical Therapist, who combines her horse training and riding instruction with her knowledge of human anatomy and movement. “Physical ailments in the rider can cause multiple issues in the horse’s performance. Becoming a Physical Therapist has given me a huge toolbox for helping riders on and off the horse in so many ways.”

Vicki is available for lessons and coaching in dressage, cross county riding, show jumping, hunters, natural horsemanship and much much more. Contact her directly at [email protected] or call (303)815-7587 to set up your first lesson!

Thank you Jen from Happy Horse!!! Our horses love the fit of their saddles!!!!

This is from an advertisement, but as you can see, the saddle has a vice grip on the withers. No wither clearance = no shoulder freedom.

☀️🏝️ We have some exciting news @ Vicki Baker and Ashley Carr Eventing - we are relocating to the Ocala FL area full time in October 2024! We are excited to move where it’s warmer with almost year round eventing. (Yes we know it’s hot there in the summer.. ) We aren’t getting younger sadly, and we both have some big goals to pursue still.

We have a few clients following us south, and we have room for anyone wanting to escape for the winter as well. We will continue to offer high standard training and rehabilitation care. We will be offering winter training 2024/2025 discounts as well. Or come join us for a week or two and ride one of our horses.

Vicki will be back to CO to visit her mom and daughter monthly and will be available for clinics/lessons during those times. We will miss the amazing eventing community in CO and hope you will visit us down south.

As we prepare for our move, we will have many things for sale at our CO farm. Tack, blankets, farm equipment, jumps etc as we downsize for our next adventure, if you’re looking for something please come by our farm sale 7/19 and 7/20. ☀️🏝️

Saving Nemo Clinic

As many of you know, Nemo has been in and out of CSU’s ICU with an extremely high fever of unknown origin for the past two weeks. He’s currently trending in the good direction and is home again under our watchful eyes. Contagiousness and many other scary causes have been ruled out. He’s been a real trooper after already enduring 4+ months of rehabilitation for a tibia fracture sustained in August but you can imagine how hard it has been. We have worked tirelessly to ensure his comfort and wellbeing, keep his mind busy and most recently played the blanket changing game every time, day or night, to keep him comfortable as his body temperature changes.

Needless to say, his veterinary bills and management bills have added up quickly and with a beautifully warm weather forecast for Sunday we have decided to host a Save Nemo Clinic with all proceeds going directly to saving Nemo!

Please join us for a day of jumping with Ashley Carr and Vicki Baker at Bella View Farm in Wellington.

We’ll have fun gymnastics and some challenging lines set on our stellar indoor footing. All levels are welcome! So get your friends together and join us for a hack outside on a beautiful day and a great jump school!

Bring a bag of your horse’s favorite treat to donate to Nemo’s appetite boredom stash.

Cost $90 (includes trailer in fee)
Limited high quality lesson horses available for day lease.

Please RSVP by Sat(today) at 6pm and include the level at which you wish to jump. Sessions will be limited to 3 horses and more sessions can be added if needed. Text Vicki at 303-815-7587 with name and level.

Tentative schedule will be:

11:00 Intro
12:00 Beg Novice
1:00 Novice
2:00 Training
3:00 Prelim

Final schedule will be sent by 8pm Sat. night.

If you can’t join us in person please join us in keeping Nemo in your thoughts and prayers!

Storm Warning made his appearance today, 3 weeks early. And a surprise at 5 am. Turtle is an amazing momma and very very proud. Both seem healthy, but will get a proper check this am.
This little guy has survived in utero, some insane weather this past year, including being a few days conceived when a 3” hail storm hit our farm last summer; as well as the worst winter in CO I have ever seen in 20 years. And of course he had to make his appearance on a cold, windy July AM. Seems fitting.

He’s perfect! Barn name coming soon.

In German, there is a saying: “Reiten lernt man nur durch Fegen”, which translates as “Riding is only learned by sweeping”. I have often thought about this saying.

Wherever there are horses, there is a lot of work to be done: Cleaning, sweeping, brushing, feeding, repairing…It’s not only the fun sides of pushing yourself off the ground and into the saddle. Learning to ride takes commitment and discipline, and we might have to do a lot of things which are not very glorious. Sweeping teaches us humility and keeps us grounded.

For me, this saying is also about apprenticeship. You start at the bottom, you sweep, you get off your high horse and you become open to learn. You admit to yourself that you don’t know everything. Sweeping is good for our ego. If you are an apprentice, the master can afford be honest to you. You don’t pay for lessons and s/he has nothing to loose if s/he scares you off. And that kind of honesty we need if we want to develop.

When we do chores around the barn, we also have the chance to develop a more natural kind of relationship with our horses, or with horses in general. We are not directly focused on them and can observe how they interact and what they are doing.

Sweeping is also my zen practice. Whatever my troubles are, I usually feel better after the morning chores at the barn are done.

For your consideration: Clinograaf

Imported 2007 KWPN Black 16.3h Gelding by Quasimodo Z out of Zongravin
Clinograaf is a successful 1.3 meter jumper who has competed at prestigious events including
1st Equis Training Jumper 1.1m Championship against 43 entries
2nd at the Tryon Cavalleria Toscana 1.15 Jumper Championship out of 26 entries
And other top finishes at:
Tryon Fall 2-5 Jumper Series
Wine Country Classic Jumper Series
Desert Circuit II Jumper Series
Divisions included: Open Jumper up to 1.3m, Low Amatuer Jumper, Training Jumper, Child Jumper 1.1m
He has also successfully competed up to the Preliminary level of eventing at numerous Horse Trials with respectable finishes at Galway Downs International, Fresno County, Twin Rivers, Full Gallop and Woodland Station with dressage scores more often than not under 30 with multiple riders.
Full of personality, Clinograff, loves attention. He enjoys a laid back hack as much as he enjoys a busy show environment. He thrives on cross training making him a well rounded partner.
He’s a gentleman in and around the barn. He stands well for the farrier and vet and loves his spa days. Loads and travels well solo or with friends, short and long distances.
Ideal for a talented young rider, an athletic amateur or a budding professional who will appreciate his athleticism and talent.
Would do well in a posh multi horse program or would love his own private farm where he’s treated like a king.
Sadly offered for sale due to young rider leaving for college.

Whim!

What a good boy! PicYourPoison began the 2019 season at Arapahoe Park & Mile High Racing with a win and retired at the end of the meet. Today, he made his recognized eventing debut at The Event at Skyline in Utah competing at the Intro level as part of the Vicki Baker & Ashley Carr Eventing team. That’s Vicki on board and Ashley next to the 6-year-old chestnut gelding.
