🐾 Meet Mia, an 11-year-old pittie mix with the gentlest heart.

Last fall her family noticed a small lump near her front teeth. After a biopsy with Dr. Miller, Mia was diagnosed with Papillary Squamous Cell Carcinoma. It’s a serious form of oral cancer, but one that often has an excellent outlook with timely surgery.

They met with our oncologist, Dr. Megan Breit, who recommended staging tests to be sure the cancer hadn’t spread. Once Mia completed her chest X-rays and bloodwork, she was cleared for surgery. The plan was a rostral mandibulectomy to fully remove the mass.

In November, Dr. Colin Bonnett performed the procedure and successfully removed a 3.5 cm carcinoma from the front portion of her lower jaw. Mia recovered beautifully, with no complications.

And then came the moment everyone had been hoping for. Her post-surgery biopsy confirmed that the entire had been removed with clean margins. Mia is officially cancer-free. 🥹🎉

Today she’s back to living her happy, full life - a reminder of how strong our pets truly are and how much early detection can change the outcome. We’re so proud of this brave girl. 💙🐶

🐾 A little snow is fine…but not all snow is clean ❄️🐕
Roadside and sidewalk snow can collect salt, chemicals, and even antifreeze - all of which can be dangerous if your dog licks or eats it.

Keep winter playtime safe by steering clear of dirty snow, wiping paws after walks, and offering fresh water when you get home.
Healthy habits go a long way toward keeping your pets happy and safe this season. 🐾💙

🐾 November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month - a time to honor the pets we’ve loved, the warriors still fighting, and the survivors who continue to inspire us.

Just like humans, 1 in 4 dogs and 1 in 5 cats will face a diagnosis in their lifetime. It’s a statistic that weighs heavily on all of us who care for them, both families and teams alike.

This month, we honor every single one.
We stand with the families who carry the grief.
We stand with the pets who are still undergoing treatment.
And we celebrate the victories - big and small.

Early detection saves lives. Awareness saves lives. Love carries us through all of it.

🐾Help support K9 Ruben!
A loyal narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff's Office and Columbia River Drug Task Force, was recently diagnosed with cancer. Emergency surgery saved his life but cost him his front right leg.
His spirit remains strong—now it’s OUR turn to stand by and support him. ❤️🐾

🖤 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐊𝟗 𝐑𝐔𝐁𝐄𝐍 🖤

K9 Ruben, a loyal narcotics detection dog with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia River Drug Task Force, has been diagnosed with cancer. This devastating news came suddenly, followed by emergency surgery that resulted in the loss of his front right leg.

Despite the pain and uncertainty, Ruben is recovering with courage, strength, and that same determined spirit he showed while protecting our community for nearly a decade.

Ruben’s next steps include:
🐾 A critical oncology consultation at Washington State University
🐾 A six-week chemotherapy regimen at Cascade Veterinary Clinic
🐾 Physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and recovery tools to help him adjust to life on three legs
