It's HOT out! Remember not to walk your pets during the day as it is too hot for them and creates a risk of heat stroke in your pet. Please be aware of your pet walking on hot pavement, as this can burn their paws just as it can burn ours. Make sure to provide plenty of shade and water for your pets and check on them routinely!

Do you feel like your puppy problems have you at the end of your leash? Luckily these behaviors can easily be controlled if you correctly reward and punish your pet.

1. Be Consistent - Giving in to them "just this once" can reinforce the negative behavior making it continue to be a problem.

2. Be prompt - Address the issue only if you catch them in the act. A puppy will not understand when you reprimand them 10 minutes later.

3. Be firm - A firm "no" signals that their behavior is not ok, but yelling or physical aggression will just make them scared.

4. Use positive reinforcement - When your puppy does something good, be sure to reward them for their good behavior with praise, treats, petting or playtime!

5. Give timeouts - Timeouts are most effective when used in response to behaviors like, jumping on people, nipping, mouthing, and some forms of aggression. Ideally, a timeout should not last more than a couple minutes.
