We had so much fun last Thursday, April 25th with our entire AERA family during Bring Your Child to Work Day!
All the kids participated in watching an ultrasound, toured the facility, and most importantly had a great time!
It means so much to our team to show the future generation how important it is to provide exceptional veterinary care! ❤️🐾❤️ 🐾
Jax
Jax is an adorable 11-month-old Terrier mix that presented to our emergency services for multiple fractures. AERA temporarily stabilized his fractures with splints and he received extensive medical attention to ensure he was comfortable and pain-free.
We then transferred him to our surgery department to have his fractures repaired. Our surgeon, Dr. Brophy, and the team were able to successfully repair the fractures and get him to recovery safely. After a few days of hospitalization, Jax slowly began to walk on his own again with a lot of encouragement and support from the staff. 💕 Despite his unfortunate incident, he remained in good spirits throughout his entire stay and constantly showed gratitude to everyone with tail wags and wet kisses.
We are happy to report that Jax was then transferred to Ramapo Bergen Animal Refuge where he was adopted by a loving family. We are wishing all the best to Jax and his new family! ❤️
Check out the installation of our main AERA sign!
Our new hospital is located at 975 Bloomfield Ave in West Caldwell, less than a mile east of our former facility 📌
Sunshine received some extra love and affection while in our ICU last week. She came in to AERA through Emergency lethargic and not acting like herself. A visit with our Cardiologist Dr. Ozer and a few treatments later, Sunshine returned home happy and healthy. In her free time, the 14-year-old Persian enjoys eating, dressing up, and advocating for cat adoption!
Dr. Levine Prepares for the Flu
This is how our behaviorist, Dr. Emily Levine prepares for cold and flu season!
Matthew Inducted into NJVMA's Animal Hall of Fame
We are thrilled to announce that a patient of ours, Matthew, was inducted into the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association (NJVMA) Animal Hall of Fame on Sunday. Every year, the NJVMA holds an Animal Hall of Fame event, celebrating a select few animals from the state that strongly demonstrate the human-animal bond. Nominated by Dr. Seth Glasser and the oncology team at AERA, Matthew and his human sister Elizabeth epitomize this special bond. Both diagnosed with cancer around the same time, the two leaned on each other for support as they bravely fought the disease together. Today, the two are happy, healthy, and still best of friends. Watch the video below to hear their incredible story.
Suki makes amazing progress!
There was a time when Suki would growl, snarl, and bite if a veterinarian tried to do anything to her. As a result, she was behind on important health requirements like vaccinations and bloodwork. She came to the Animal Behavior Clinic of AERA to work with Dr. Levine and our behavior modification trainer, Suzy, on her fear and aggression towards vet visits. So far, Suki has made amazing progress and here she is calmly receiving all of her necessary vaccinations and bloodwork, with a few treats added in for a job well done! Look at that tail wag! The power of behavior modification and medications are undeniable, but it takes a very dedicated dog parent and support team as well, so cheers to Suki's mom!
Simon is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever that sees the Oncology Department on a regular basis for chemotherapy. He is currently in remission from his Lymphoma, and is quite possibly the happiest patient to enter our hospital! As you can see below, Simon always runs in at full speed to greet his favorite technician, Josh. Simon's mom tells us that even if she says "Josh" at home, he will pick up his ears and get very excited. We are so happy he is doing well and it's always a pleasure to work with Simon and his mom!
