In October 2019, we opened Three Dog Bakery West Chester with one goal in mind: to help pet parents with their dogs. Starting and operating a small business at that time was not easy as Covid took the world by storm a few months later and presented many challenges for us personally, professionally, and financially. However, my motto was “the little bakery that could” and so we did. We were determined to survive and thrive while other local businesses around us closed. During that troubled time, the store was deemed an essential business, remained opened to the public, and quickly became so much more than I could have ever imagined. People visited the store, shopped, and received education on health and nutrition. In return, they told their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers about their positive experiences in our store. Word spread about our friendly and compassionate customer service and more people came. We were truly grateful for each and every person that passed through our door. During that trying time, we established a loyal customer base and a dedicated team. Soon those customers and employees became more than customers and employees, they became acquaintances and many became friends. Throughout the years, our business itself has grown but it has also grown with many of our customers as well as past and present employees. We have been there with you in good times and bad and experienced many of your milestones and struggles: new puppies, birthdays, adoptions, graduations, proposals, marriages, births, new homes, illnesses, surgeries, and even the passing of loved ones and furry friends. We have been there through it all and felt your joy and your pain. In return, you accepted us into your community with open arms. In short, the success of our business could not have happened without all of you. What started out as a dream of mine quickly became a destination where we could have fun and celebrate you and your dogs. The name we gave it was appropriate: your celebration destination. We love hearing stories of how your pups realize that they are going to the store when you pull into the parking lot or recognize the familiar brown bag that you bring home just for them. We love seeing our pupstomers run up to the counter or to the sample bar for treats when they enter the store, carry their carefully selected chews out the door, or plant their feet and refuse to leave. Quite simply, we love that we love your dogs and that your dogs love us. For all this and more, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. As many of you know, our dog Rocky is ten now and is experiencing some health issues. As a result, it is time that we turn our attention to caring for him. So, it is with mixed emotions that we announce that the bakery will be closing in October. For five years, we have worked extremely hard and devoted endless hours to building a unique pet store and bakery that we have enjoyed owning. However, we have decided to retire in order to find time for ourselves and to tend to our precious pup. We thank you all again for supporting us over the last five years, for voting us Best in Chester County for the past two consecutive years, and for being the wonderful people that you are. Our success would not have been possible without you and we are incredibly blessed and grateful to have known you and to have had the opportunity to serve you. You have changed our lives forever and if by chance we have had an impact on yours, please let us know below. It has been an incredible journey and we will miss you and your dogs greatly!
Sincerely,
Kim, Chris, and Rocky🐾
