Meet George. We love getting baby puppies for training because we can start them off with good habits and build confidence by gently socializing them to new things. George is learning cat manners from our Rajah who has been training puppies for 20 years. He’s also learning that he has to be calm and snuggly when humans invite him onto our beds and that going to his mat is fun (videos in comments).
He has also learned to go up and down the stairs in the few days that he’s been with us, but I botched getting a video of his first time coming down.
We’ll spend 2 weeks instilling some great foundation habits in George. He’ll go home for a few weeks and then come back for more advanced training when he’s a little more mature.
When a new dog starts one of our board and train camps, one of us spends the day easing them into the routine and making sure they enjoy themselves. Branca and Bo started puppy camp on the same day, so they did their orientation together. Instant besties!
Meet Teddy. He’a a big boy and he REALLY liked to jump on people when he first came to board and train. This was a big test, his first cold trial where someone he hadn’t seen that day pulled up in a car, knocked on the door, and came in to greet him. He aced it! He has a week of training left to get even better, but we’re so proud of him!
Meet Goose! When he first came to us he was terrified of all other dogs even puppies, but especially dogs bigger than him. With some time, patience and lots of protecting he has become so silly.
Most of you have probably seen Coney here before. He’s one of our long time alumni and loves helping shy dogs learn that play is fun. He did a great job with Goose. Good job uncle coney!😊
Is your puppy already displaying signs of being shy? Call us right away if so. They don’t grow out of it, it takes a lot of remedial socialization and patience!
Can you call your dog out of play with another dog? One of the more common mistakes people make is only calling their dogs when the fun is over. If your dog learns that calling them at the park means it’s time to leave or that calling them in the yard means it’s time to go inside, they won’t be too keen to come.
In these videos, the adorable Ms Honey is learning that when we call her, it just means a quick treat and a return to play. Honey and her pal Rita have already learned to do this at the training center. Here they’re learning that the rule applies in new places too. You can see Rita doing it too in the comments.
Meet Nico. He’s the big black lab dragging a leash. For reasons beyond his owner’s control, Nico didn’t get a lot of socialization with dogs as a pup. He had a couple of not great experiences that led him to become reactive to other dogs. He’s a big sweety, but he’s big and loud and has a very credible bluff.
After doing some private lessons with Jeff, Nico came to our West Chester training center for controlled introductions to other dogs last week. Today was his first day of day school and he’s making fast friends.
Inara is pretty enthusiastic about her training treats today. Not so much eating them, but playing with them? Yes please!
Check out our little rockstar Blue! He’s in our day school program at Westchester and is working hard this week. 🐶
Snoopy is here to learn better greeting manners with visitors. Check out the hard work he’s been putting in. 🐶
Check out our Little Rock star, Poco! She came to us for some remedial socialization. She was already showing signs of being concerned about new people and environments. She is super smart, so she caught on to things really quickly and has made amazing progress while she’s been here. We’re so proud of you Poco!
This is Sammy, he’s doing our three week board and train program here at Training tracks. His training is much different than the average dog because he was really afraid of new environments and people. His owners wanted a way to socialize him and teach him to trust new people.
If you saw Sammy a week ago you’d understand how special this video is. He had to ease his way into the program to make the stress on him as little as possible. Here we are a little over a week later and the panting and pacing has gone away and he’s learned we’re actually pretty nice people. Next step, to teach him other dogs aren’t so bad either. Welcome to the TT fam Sammy!
NEW WEST CHESTER CLASSES
We’ve had a high volume of class requests recently, so we’re doing rare Saturday sessions of Puppy Headstart and Basic Obedience at our West Chester location starting this Saturday 10/29.
Puppy HeadStart is at 10:30 and Basic 101 is at 1:30
Registration info in the comments. Puppy alumni Jester and Maverick say you should come and have some fun.
Today Milo and Hailey were rocking their training sessions at our West Chester location . Aren’t they both the cutest?!
Three of our fluffiest students at West Chester working on stay and place together! We can’t wait to see how far they go!
The Dynamic Duo is back in action. Ernie and Cleo have been the best of buds since they started training with us last year. Both are now in our educational daycare program and it’s been a few months since they’ve seen each other.
But it was once again, love at first sight when we reintroduced them.
Ernie’s gotta hog all the toys though. 😬
