We are becoming increasingly aware of the potential dangers and risks in functioning as an open cattery. Even if we didn’t have an immunocompromised person in our household the risks are still great.
We have heard of breeders being held at gun point or even murdered after having potential customers visit the fur babies in their homes.
A lot to consider.

We appreciate being able to meet families in person as it gives us an idea of what kind of owners they will be. We also appreciate seeing how the kittens interact with each family to give us more feedback on which kitten pairs best with each family. With that said, we may need to reevaluate the potential risks.

After much discussion, we have decided it is in Gandalf’s best interest to retire from the cattery lifestyle and enjoy life as a spoiled pet. Not all breeder candidates end up being kings and queens. It takes a perfect balance of confidence, composure, health, build, type, and the right temperament to be able to stand as a queen or king in a cattery. You can have all of those pieces and it still not be the right fit for the cat.

After being desexed, Gandalf will be ready to join his new family. His ideal home would be with experienced cat owners who can help him adjust to his new environment. Gandalf is a bit timid and takes a while to warm up to his family. Once he does, however, he generously shares cuddles, kisses, and purrs.

We also think it would be best for Gandalf to be in a home that does not have other cats as it may prove to be too stressful for him.
It is possible that he will be less stressed after being desexed but as it stands now, we think he would be more likely to flourish in a single cat home.
