Act. Chief Smith presents K9 Diego with his uniform badge, and Ofc. Salem with his certificate. The team recently submitted to state evaluations and passed to begin their career in West Jefferson.

Ofc. Salem and Diego completed five weeks of Police K9 training at Christian K9 Academy in West Jefferson prior to their evaluations. Mitch Christian, Head Trainer, stated they're an amazing team and have developed very well together.

Act. Chief Smith, who was the agency's previous handler, is excited to see K9 services continue for West Jefferson and Madison County. Tonight the team will serve their first official shift together. Appreciation is evident to all involved in reimplementing this great program.
