I find it very hard to believe we haven't posted anything on our page since this spring? We've had a lot of changes!
New friends
Marty added one more member to his herd, Cash. Uncle Shadow was calling for him and Willow, as Shadow was the first one to go out this morning. Shadow has a very distinctive neigh. All went well, and they even behaved as we went to bring them in during the thunderstorm this evening. We shut the front gate, caught Shadow, and opened the pasture gate, so the other three could follow us up to the barn and into shelter. With the rain pouring down, lightening, and very gusty wind, it all went according to plan. Got soaked getting the others in....but with the quick temp drop, we figured they'd appreciate being dry.
"Out to pasture"
The 3 black&whites finally got some pasture time. I was a little worried little Marty wouldn't figure out our "cobble gates" fence arrangement. Uncle Shadow kept him safe, and they all enjoyed munching some not so green grass.
Welcome Flicka
We have a new horse here, with a first time horse owner. Flicka arrived on a big horse van, that bravely parked out on the highway, and unloaded her. She took it all in stride, and followed me quietly down the driveway, in the dark, as Hal followed me up the driveway to the arena. Interested in the friendly inquiries from the other horses, she was not anxious about being in a new place. Her previous life was as a surrogate mom for expensive babies, while their real moms went on to do more important things(?). She is isolated in the arena in her own stall suite. Tomorrow we will find out what she knows. Welcome, Shalar, and Flicka to NHES. Many years of happy trails to them both.
Follow the leader/get in the way!
Enjoying watching Marty thrive. With luck, he'll have a little brother or sister next year. The ultrasound was a positive. Juliet was going to post it, but I haven't checked yet, to see if she did.
Shadow meets the new kid.
Willow and Marty meet a new friend, Shadow. I'm hoping when it comes time to wean, Shadow can be the kind uncle-babysitter.
Evening trail ride.
Ares thought he was pretty special since he got to lead the ride. Ally did a good job of keeping him under control.
Trail ride time!
Everybody loves a camp video!
Day 2 of camp. Trail riding.
Day 2 of camp. Half the group got to do a trail ride, and tomorrow the other half will trail ride.
Day 2 of camp.
Did you know if enough girls run the same direction in a small pool, it will create a whirlpool?
Day 1
I don't know how to post multiple videos, so here they come, one at a time.
Fathers Day
Ares doesn't mind leading and has a great step.
The Wild Life Loop at sunset.
This is my favorite video of this year. When we get parallel to the car with the headlights on, the young lady driving is totally paralyzed and has no idea what to do about the bison cleaning off her headlights.
Lesson time!
Linda and Honey (and Linda&Larry), working on the first ride of the year. This should have been on January 1st!
Spring 2022
You would think they hadn't had any where to run in months! Trust me, they are only stalled at night. Honey is so much handier than Larry. I was surprised he stayed on his feet! They loved the weather.
Ride On with a beautiful December.
We may not get a consistent schedule with rides for Ally and Aries. But they are both being steady in communicating with each other. It takes many hours to develop a great horse. I'm hoping this will be the result with this pair.
