Horse Facts:

If a horse gets too stressed out they can colic and die

If a horse doesn't eat enough they can get stomach ulcers

If a horse eats too much they can founder or colic and die

If a horse gets stressed out and doesn't eat at the same time they will get ulcers, colic and die

If a horse doesn't drink enough...you guessed it, they can colic and die

If they have a drastic change in diet, environment or routine they can indeed colic and die

If you ride your entire life it absolutely does not mean that you are a good rider

If you ask 100 equestrians the same question you will get 106 different answers all of which which will be told with 100% confidence especially from those who bought their first horse last week

Horses can live outside 24/7 and they also can not live outside 24/7

Horses eat hay, grass, grain, expensive supplements, apples, carrots and 100 dollar bills

The pants you wear to shovel s**t, fix fences and ride in the dirt are more expensive then any other pants you will own

Horses are athletes. Athletes that trip on nothing, fall while playing, need stitches from cutting themselves on something that is not visible to the human eye, colic and die under stressful (competition type) situations, are scared of absolutely everything and don't like to be told what to do

Rank, fresh, hot, spicy, wild all mean the same thing and describe a horse on a beautiful spring day when all you want to do is go for a relaxing ride to unwind

Beginner safe, schoolie, husband type, anyone can ride, Grandma's mount, kid safe normally means, this horse is bat s**t crazy but I'm hoping you'll buy it sight unseen if I describe it as a kids horse and then ghost you when you tell me it killed your Grandma

If you are riding a horse and they see a rock that wasn't there yesterday you are possibly in for a wild ride as they avoid this horse eating rock at all costs. Including the cost of your life

If you see a horse on the road slow down.. actually just turn around and go the other way. For some unknown reason a horse often jumps infront of moving cars in order to avoid the scary moving cars

If your horse comes up lame, no problem you just need to rule out a couple of the most common things that it could be. These include ulcers, kissing spine, founder, EPM, HYPP, Lyme, influenza, cushings, sharp teeth, broken teeth, rotten tooth, tooth abscess, knee chips, hairline fractures from head to toe, cancer, pulled muscle, hoof abscess, weak stifle, lice, worms, conformational defect, headaches, sinus infection, bruised sole, ribs or spine out of alignment, poor fitting tack, laminitis, dehydration, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, infection and strangles.

And they have a frog in their foot

If you aren't the one paying the vet bills these horse facts might seem funny but they are in fact, 100% accurate. So if you get a horse please also get yourself a good therapist.

1 stall open from May 1st in small private barn in West Linn/Lake Oswego, Oregon!

This is at a small private barn with only 3 stalls in total.

The facts:
- 12 x14 stall with new mats & nest camera
- Daily group turnout on grass (would share with a gelding and a mare
- FYI: vinyl fencing not electric.
- All year turn out (rain or shine) min 6 hours per day (usually up to 10-12 hours during summer!)
- Feed owners grain + supplements twice a day
- Feeding Timothy hay three times a day
- We fly mask and fly spray as needed
- We change blankets up to 2 times per day
- We hold for our farrier, vet, body worker or chiro
- 60x110 GGT/sand arena
- 10 min warm up/cool down perimeter trail.
- Opportunity to use our dressage or jump trainer or bring your own trainer
- Caring owner on site, with plans for additional updates for the property on its way
- NO trailer parking available

It's a relatively small property with 5 acres

This is my home and not a commercial boarding facility, which means your horse gets the same love, attention, and individual care as mine but also means there's no bathroom, so you've gotta be a bit sporty.

The right fit horse and person is the most important, so if this peaks anyone's interest, let's chat. We're super low key, try to let horses be horses, and are looking for no drama boarders.

Full board:
12x14: $850

(Opportunity for reduced board in exchange for helping with chores)

Hello ❤️

Love this ❤️

I can’t believe I ever tolerated horses being hard to catch.

Not in the “they’re bad horses with an attitude and shouldn’t get away with that” way but because I can’t believe I was okay with my mere presence being so aversive and unpleasant that horses would run the other way when they saw me.

I can’t believe that I used to respond with frustration and irritation, angry at them for defying me and making my day harder, instead of being disappointed in myself for not having developed a more symbiotic relationship with them.

Hard to catch horses are relatively common and often viewed through the lens of being naughty when really it’s a sign that they associate humans with highly unpleasant tasks that they would really like to avoid.

A horse being hard to catch says everything we need to know about their association with training and calls for immediate reevaluation of the way we do things with them.

Horses being happy to see people, meeting them at the gate and being excited to be caught is a sign of pleasant association with training.

Horses who actively try to avoid their handlers, especially to the point of running and expending excess precious energy simply to evade what they view as a threat, should be a glaring red flag that exposes how the horse views human beings.

How our horses respond to us tells us a story we may or may not want to hear, but it’s an honest one nonetheless.

ISO barn help, 3- stall boarding barn in West Linn/Lake Oswego.

Needing help for Morning routine; measure, mix, and feed rations; turn horses out and bring them in (blankets, flymasks); clean stalls, observe/notice horse behavior changes, check for wounds, scrapes, bad steps; handle hay, pick pastures, keep order in barn; plus other duties as assigned.

Approx 2 - 3 hours, one or two mornings per week, both weekend and week days available.

We are a low-key, quiet barn with resident owners. We have consistent routines and reasonable, clear expectations.

We provide training and plenty of support for learning our routines, and for the specific needs of each horse in our care, however need somebody with previous horse experience.

If you like to work in an organized place, can be relied on for calm horse handling and attention to detail, and don't mind working alone, PM me with info about your experience with horses and barns, and what kind of physical work you've done.

We are looking for somebody to become a long term member of our little barn family, and not just for over the summer!

If it seems like a good fit, we'll arrange a visit/tour/interview - we look forward to hearing from you!
