Wednesday mood, happy hump day!
Vacation ended!? I honestly didn’t notice! Love this dog life!

Some Sunday sweetness for y’all!
Always remember the ol’ handy leash is your best friend while getting your pup ready! Tie it to the truck, put it on the ground and step on it, or keep it in your hand!
I see people who are always ready to unhook the leash at the wrong moment. When we are concentrating on people things having your dog properly tied out will save you a load of worry and frustration!
Only one pup is leash free as he has the most experience out of this current pack. You can all get there one day, but it all starts with the leash on!
Impulse control! Impulse control! Impulse control! Keeping your dog next to you and creating patience before you get to the off leash area is 🔑
Basic obedience! These are the first steps before you add in the distractions of the real world.
We see all the time people trying to do these commands without the leash after only a couple sessions. That is far too rushed and the dog will know they don’t always have to listen and hold the command. That’s why doing reps after reps with your leash will only solidify your commands more!
As you can see in the video always bring your dog back to the spot where you began the sit and stay commands. By doing this we also teach them not to stray from where we put them.
This may be in a parking lot while we throw away trash or at one our children’s sports events where getting up from our stay command might disrupt something even bigger!
Calling your pup right after being released or when they see something exciting is key to a strong come when called! These practice moments helps us when we get to a busy park or a busy day at the beach. By immediately letting them bound off and then requiring them to come allows our pups to make sure they always remember to check in with us even during the most exciting times!
It’s the little moments that make a big difference in your dogs impulse control. It all starts before you the leave the house and when you are prepping for the fun!
If you want them to come back from the busy off leash park then they need to show patience coming out of the kennel. They need to hold their sit and stay when waiting to go on their walk.
All of these create a dog who is checking in with us rather than over stimulating themselves about what’s going on in their external environment! The fun is maximized when our pups are listening and paying attention!
