Such a fun week!

Chick got her leg stuck in the fence today. So glad she was trained well by the Fishers (Thank you Cynthia Fisher!) to stand still. She was only stuck for a few minutes but it felt like an eternity! She ended up with both legs completely off the ground!

Summer help has arrived! These handsome boys love meeting our clients and getting to know them. They are a big part of why it feels like family here.

Always a great time when this kiddo comes to visit! Max was amazing!!! After a few good sniffs of the wheelchair he was all in. So proud of him!

Chick was amazing as well! It was this guy's first day leasing big horses and he led two of them! See the video of him leading Chick in the comments.

"My favorite thing about archery is shooting and talking to make friends. It brings me joy because I met new people. A special moment I had on the ranch was when me and my friend played in the long grass and played hide and seek. It was so fun. Something I learned about myself from archery is that other people like me and want to be my friend. I have been having a hard time then when I came here I met new people that are amazing people. Hey all! Acres of Hope Youth Ranch runs a program for teens who are H.U.R.T. down in Salem. They just did their big fundraiser and I found out they have 62 kids on their waitlist! They offer services free of charge to families and I'd love it if you would consider supporting them financially. Liberty Reins sponsors a table each year and it's such a good, well-run organization.

Do you know what today is? Today we get to celebrate a very special person!!! It is Ali's Birthday today, so make sure if you see her around the barn you wish her a very Happy Birthday.

Liberty Reins would not exist without our very own Allison Watson. I am pretty sure I speak for everyone when I say she deserves to be honored today, not only for her Birthday, but for the beautiful, wonderful loving person that she is.

Cinder got a bath today. We didn't scrub deep or use the whitening shampoo, but we were ablento clean off her crusties on her legs and tail from her f***l water syndrome. So hard to clean it up when it's so cold and with no hot water. She was a total champ!

Second time riding Mick but he fell in love the first time. He did not want his lesson to end today. I told him I was so glad that he loved Mick, and then he proceeded to tell me that Mick loves him too. 🐴♥️

We are so excited to offer a life skills group for teens!

The need is great and the workers are few. We have heard of many people on lengthy wait lists for mental health services and we want to help.

Liberty Reins is partnering with Living Tree Wellness Center to conduct an eight week course for teens that will work on life skills with the help of our equine (horse) friends!

Group 1: Connection skills
Group 2: Elements of communication (Body language, Verbal words, Tone of voice)
Group 3: Relaxation/Grounding
Group 4: Listening Skills/Body Language
Group 5: Leadership/influence
Group 6: Boundaries/Assertiveness
Group 7: Attunement/Empathy
Group 8: Give a presentation on horses and what you have learned.

To Teens:
Come explore with us and with the horses. Let them show you things about yourself and about the world around you. Our equine friends have this non-judgemental way of being fully present with us, no matter what kind of baggage we carry into our time with them. They are strong and will carry that weight for us if we let them. They will help us see that we are stronger than we know and have so much to offer this world and to others if we can just believe it.

To Parents:
This world is TOUGH for our teens to navigate and the pandemic didn't help any of them in this crucial developmental stage of life. The horses have this way of allowing humans to be authenitcally themselves and bringing about change and growth in all those that come in contact with them. It would be our honor to help your teen develop skills and confidence that can help them reach their full potential in life.

Please reach out and ask if you have ANY questions at all.

NO RIDING will be involved and you don't even have to touch the horses if you don't want to during the session.

Current clients: because of dual relationship safeguards, our current lessons clients are not eligible for this group, but please pass along the information to anyone and everyone that you can to help us spread the word!

Greetings from the barn! Spent the night again, but hopefully this was the last one for a while.

The end appears to be in sight guys! My Sister posted live from Acres of Hope Youth Ranch and the ice and such is sliding off the barn there. We're not quite there yet but it's so nice to have warmer temperatures coming in. I opened the barn door and I could literally feel a gust of warm air rush in. It felt like 50 degrees but I'm sure was more like 30, but after those super cold days it feels balmy!
