ROLLO - MEDICAL UPDATE ❤️

Rollo spent the day with our vet team today, being assessed, so that we can make a game plan for his treatment. He charmed the staff and we heard all about how darn cute he is! 🥰

He’s currently at the end of his deworming treatments, and we’re sure he’s glad to have a belly feeling much better.

Our first medical priority is to treat his heartworms. Dogs with heartworms can not safely undergo any anesthesia (so MRI and neuter are both on hold for the time being). His 30 days of doxycycline will begin tomorrow.

His bloodwork today was good! 🎉 No concerns there, which is fantastic. From a neurological standpoint, there isn’t much we can do diagnostically until he is safe to undergo his MRI, but we will be sending off his DNA test, which will help us rule out (or in) a number of genetic conditions in advance.

Heartworm treatment starts tomorrow. He’s got this, and we’ve got him.

HAPPY MONDAY! ❄️

Dahlia is here to wish you all a wonderful start to your week! We had flurries here at the sanctuary this morning, and are expecting more snow in the coming days.

If you’re in the same boat as us, now is the time to limit outdoor time for your pups and focus on other enrichment opportunities like Kongs, lick mats, puzzles, training a new skill, scent games, and other creative ways to tucker out your pooch indoors.

SPOILER - SUPER CUTE PUPDATE ✨

Our one year old pup Dell had his very first night in a foster home last night and did amazing. Read the highlights above and swipe to see some more pictures and videos of his sweet face!

Applications for him are being accepted across CAN/US. He is fully vetted and has a total ham of a personality that will be sure to quickly charm his forever family into giving him endless belly rubs in exchange for tail wags that wiggle his entire back end.

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY NUGGET! 🥳

Today, we have a ✨very✨ special pup to celebrate! Nugget, our Furgiven mascot, is four years old. Swipe to see little baby Nugs when he arrived at the sanctuary.

Nugget has had a tremendous impact here at the sanctuary. His arrival opened us up to the idea of taking in disabled dogs. What started as a wobbly puppy (soon to be diagnosed with CH, or cerebellar hypoplasia, from his MRI), evolved into Furgiven proudly becoming a hub and advocacy base for many pups like him that have since come through our care.

We’ve celebrated our Nugs today, with chicken nuggets of course, lots of love, and we have a birthday fundraiser posted in our bio to help fund the special needs pups in our care that he inspired.

It’s incredible what you can build, from one little Nugget. Happy Birthday to our “big guy”, water loving, ham of a pup! 🥳
