UPDATE: Landon braved the intense rain for as long as he could and made an amazing $255 from his lemonade stand for Club Pet. If you couldn't make it and would still like to donate, you can contact him through his mom, Jessica Chapin. What a great future this amazing young man has. Hats off to his parents and grandparents who have put him on the right path.

LANDON SAYS THE SHOW MUST GO ON. Rain or shine, Landon Chapin will host a lemonade stand from 9 a.m. to noon today (Saturday) at 214 E. Market Street in Mercer during the Mercer Community Yard Sales. The 10-year-old will be pouring glasses of lemonade and selling homemade baked goods trying to raise $200 to benefit Club Pet, where he and his family volunteer. Pictured is Landon with rescue cat Irene, who was adopted from Club Pet in November 2022 and is Landon's best friend.

UPDATE: Valerie Ferguson generously donated the 51-inch cat tree. Is anyone able to donate the 70.5 inch for our kitties?
SECOND UPDATE: Laura Lutz has generously donated the 70.5-inch cat tree.
Thank you to our three donors. Our kitties will be so happy!

Our fun, rambunctious cats that live in our new catio have shredded several of their cat trees. One of our supporters just donated one, a 61-inch Yaheetech. We are in need of two more - a 51 inch and a 70.5 inch. The 70.5 inch is pictured below from Chewy, but Amazon or anyone who carries similar, sturdy trees works, too. Can anyone help give our cats more climbing and scratching fun? Our address is 15 Oak Hill Drive, West Middlesex, PA 16159. 🐱🐱🐱

August 17 will be the sixth Nicholas "Austin" Amabile Memorial Poker Run. It will be the final run put on by the Amabile family, which has raised thousands of dollars for Club Pet in memory of Austin, an animal lover who lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident in 2017. We are forever grateful to Christine and Nick Amabile and daughters Ashley and Allyson, who turned their grief into a way to help animals. We are looking for baskets and gift cards for the raffle basket auction. We'd like to top the 60 items that our supporters have donated each year and honor Austin in a big way, especially since the event will be on the seventh anniversary of his loss. Please post if you can donate, or contact Kayleen Cubbal in Lawrence County or Marcia Combine in Mercer County.

Thank you to Crystal Ruhlman, who donated the Shark Genius mop we were requesting to clean our cat rooms. Crystal was the first-grade teacher of Landon Chapin (our lemonade boy). Landon is growing fast, in fourth grade and ran a 5K race today, finishing second in his age division and fifth overall. Thank you, Crystal! Thanks to everyone for sharing.

Today, we give thanks to all who support us. Whether you have adopted, fostered, volunteered, donated gift baskets or auction items or provided funding when we had a need, we appreciate every one of you. That includes the Amabile family, who turned the loss of their son into an annual memorial poker run and this year, celebrates the birth of a first grandchild. Give something back today, be it taking a plate of leftovers to someone less fortunate than you, bringing in a dog or cat from the cold or simply having a smile for a stranger. We are counting our blessings today and that means each and every one of you.

Hannah Gibson presented Club Pet founder Dianna Estman with a check for $403 from proceeds of her handmade bracelet sales at Gibson's Produce and Pumpkin Patch this summer. Hannah has been battling an illness that prevented her from starting 8th grade at Reynolds High School, but she kept her promise to make her beaded bracelets to raise money for the animals. We salute Hannah for being a beautiful person both inside and out and wish her the best.

FOUNDER'S NOTE: Nearly 25 years ago, I opened Club Pet Adoption. Since then, about 6,000 dogs and cats have come through our doors. We have had joy and heartbreak, but through it all, we have lived our motto that "every soul has worth." As I watched the donations and bidders who supported our online auction, I was full of gratitude. We are all volunteers at Club Pet, including myself, so every dollar from the auction goes directly to the animals. Thanks for being part of our rescue story. Dianna Estman

Christine and Nick Amabile presented Club Pet with a check for $4,406.44 from the Nicholas Austin Amabile Memorial Poker Run. We also will receive $1,172 from the online fundraiser. There are so many people to thank - the Amabiles, bikers, volunteers, attendees and Club Pet supporters who donated an amazing 64 baskets and other gift items. And a special shoutout to the Ellwood Moose, which went above and beyond to keep amazing food coming all night. What a blessing to watch the love.

We have a great update on Hannah Gibson's bracelet sales. On the last day of corn season at Gibson's Produce and Pumpkin Patch, Hannah reached her goal of $800, bringing in $806, half of which will go to Club Pet. This exceptional young lady, who has been battling an illness all summer, powered through it to raise money for the animals.Thank you also to all who bought bracelets to help make this happen. Her family should be so proud, as are we.

For those inquiring. Club Pet Adoption is in the process of relocating our cattery. Our rescue dogs will remain at the shelter at 20 Schaller Road under a current lease agreement until May of 2024. We have not dissolved our rescue nor do we have any intention of doing so. We have over 60 animals in our care mainly seniors and special needs at this time. We plan to continue forward with our mission.

The Nicholas Austin Amabile Memorial Poker Run bikers dodged the raindrops and all made it back safely to the Ellwood City Moose. Thank you to the heavens above for keeping them safe. And thank you to Marcia Combine, Amy Ritson and Bonnie Hennon for manning the Mercer County stops for Club Pet.
