Cat Around Town - Feline Grooming Cat Around Town is a grooming shop that exclusively grooms cat. Owner is a Certified Master Feline Groomer We generally only groom 1 cat at a time.

We are open from 9-3 every other Saturday but these appointments are not available online and are generally pre-booked out for 6 months. We groom between 5-7 cats a day. We are NOT a high volume shop and we are booked out 6-8 weeks for appointments. We only accepts new customers freely in January and February, after that, the cat must be referred by a vet due to health or age issues or by another groomer who was unable to groom the cat.

I bought a wagon for you to wheel your heavy carriers back to the grooming area, but Jazzy has claimed it so I had to order another one. Jazzy is somewhere between 15-18 years old, so if something makes her happy she gets to keep it.

We will be closing at noon on Saturday December 21st and will reopen on January 1st at 3pm. I meant to take that off too but I forgot to block it out and someone booked. I will be asleep before the ball drops anyway.

2 of these cats are over 18
5 of these cats are over 16
1 has Cerebral Hyperplasia
1 has a cleft pallet (ok, there are 2 pics of her but she was such a poser)
1 hates car rides with a passion of volcanic eruption from both ends but loves to be blow dried🤷‍♀️
1 only has 2 properly working legs
2 have a history of seizures
1 is too chonk to clean her own butt
3 were boarding and got groomed before they went home and another is a a very well bred Maine C**n
And the last one is the cranky 14 year old foster cat who hated me but adores me now.
Also, Jazzy, Piggy, Mia and Tiny the foster cat would like to give a shout out to Marigny for bringing them 3 big jars of treats.

NEW TEXT NUMBER

We use to use an APP called TextFree for texting. It was great, until it wasn’t. I have not been able to send or receive texts since Saturday. I have contacted them every day to remedy the situation to no avail. I have no idea who has texted me since Saturday the 7th. I’d love to recover the phone number, but I can’t, and I refuse to be put in this situation again so I had to get a new phone and line for texting the business.

The old number to TEXT the shop was 412-626-7877(PURR)
The NEW number is 412-660-4576 … It doesn’t spell anything fun😢

Please change the TEXT number in your phone.
Please do not call it. It is for texting only.
It is not a 24 hour hotline.
It is for CURRENT CUSTOMERS ONLY.

We are currently unable to receive or send texts.

Unfortunately, this is a problem with the program we use. This issue started on Saturday. The company deemed our number "Inactive" even though it was used daily. I am trying to recover the original phone number but am having problems getting support to respond to the issue. If the issue is not resolved by Sunday, I will get a new number to text.

Fortunately, you can still reach us by calling 412-466-7877, emailing [email protected], or messaging us on the FACEBOOK business page.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. It is not within my control.

We have some cats boarding for thanksgiving so I wanted to plate them a thanksgiving “feast”.
They are getting their canned food supplied by their owners with small accoutrements of sliced turkey cat food in gravy and a freeze dried nugget of Stella and chewy, freeze dried wheat grass, a drizzle of Churu and a garnish of catnip.

One of these cats is 16 years old. Can you guess which one? Another one is one that we fostered here as a kitten and was adopted.
We will be closed for grooming until Wednesday. (boarders will be cared for)

Things are not always the way they appear. From the second photo you would think the cat’s coat looks fine but from underneath you can see the tight matting. It takes great skill to remove these mats. Don’t get me wrong, I sweat and hold my breath the entire time because I’m working with a sharp thing on an awake, living creature. Luckily this one was grateful for the relief. Some are not.
Ps. No. We are still not accepting any new customers.

The salon will be closed from 3pm Aug 31st -11am Sept 11th.
I could not figure out how to disable appt making before I left so I did this.
Who wants to take bets on how many people will make appts while I’m gone.
(Those with pending appts made in the LAST 24 hours will be approved tomorrow-if you already have a pending appt)
The machine will not take messages.
Texts will be an auto response that I’m out of town.
In other words…To quote the Australian Punk Adjacent group “The Chats”…”I’m on Smoko -Leave me alone” 😂

Cat Around Town will be closed for grooming from Sept 1st until September 10th. Justine will return on 9/11.
Appointment making will be disabled during this time.

I will be out of town and will not be taking the appointment book with me.

We lost power at the shop at 8pm. My 8pm was a matted Lion cut. Between 3 pair of cordless clippers (that are always only half charged because I forget to put them on the charger), and the light coming in from the front door and the exit signs, I completed the groom. I couldn’t bathe it, but at least I got the shave done.
