Deceased Dog Found on Clinton Road:

The West Milford Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of this male Husky. During the evening of 10/26/2023 the dog was found deceased approximately ten feet into the woods off of Clinton Road by Schoolhouse Cove Road.

It appears to be a younger, black and white male Husky that is not neutered. The dog was wearing a size “Large” black nylon “Tactical” style collar which is commonly purchased on Amazon. A yellow and blue bungee cord was hooked to the collar. There were no I.D tags on the collar and the dog was not microchipped. Regional animal shelters, veterinarians, and missing dog listings have been checked.

The West Milford Animal Shelter Society is offering a $1,000.00 reward for information leading to the successful identification of the dog and owner.

Due to the manner in which the dog was found this is being investigated as a criminal matter. Anyone with information is asked to contact the WMPD Detective Bureau at (973) 728-2803 or [email protected].

One of our newest rescued dogs is Macey. She was in a kill shelter in the south and ended up not feeling well. Care and attention was provided and she finally made her way to our loving foster home on Saturday.

Meet Macey, a 4-month-old baby who currently weighs 16 lbs. This sweet girl is alert, intelligent, and affectionate. Her tail is always wagging. She loves playing with her foster family and all of her toys. We have a dog in the home and they do well together. She is adapting quickly and is doing a really great job with learning the rules of the house. She is a typical puppy who loves to be part of the action. She is a doll who is only missing a home to call her own. If you have a loving home to offer, please complete an application at sherylsden.org

All puppies need training and follow up medical care. This baby has had 2 parvo/distemper shots, has been dewormed, examined by a vet etc. We will discuss full medical care provided with approved applicants. You will have to follow up with age-appropriate care.

Sugar is a 29 pound, 1-year-old sweet little lady. She arrived February 5th and was unsure as to what was going on. She seemed scared. Once she arrived at her foster home, she warmed up nicely. She was hesitant with my dogs, but she warmed up quickly. It was so much for one day. The next day, she has shown that she loves to sit on your lap when you watch TV. I was impressed when she went to the back door to let us know she wants to go outside. She loved playing ball in the backyard, we are working on her bringing the ball back to us! She is not a fan of the leash but is slowly warming up to it and we will continue to work on those skills. Sadly, she had no experience on the leash prior to arrival. She gets excited when she sees the leash but once it goes on, she is not quite sure what to make of it. Once outside she forgets it is on and will have fun. She is a petite little lady weighing between 25 and 30 pounds (depended on which scale we used). She would make a great addition to any home who will be willing to continue training her and will love her forever.

UPDATE: Sugar loves attention. Who blames her after being in a shelter and not having any. She loves to snuggle up and rest with a human. She also loves to chase a ball but has no idea she should bring it back to you yet. Sugar has no previous leash experience but she is now getting used to having it on and she has been able to walk a short distance, such as 20 feet. She does not yet understand leash pressure, so when she felt it, she stopped walking. She is doing okay walking at her own pace while she adjusts to this thing around her neck that she does not quite understand.

This baby has had a parvo/distemper shot, rabies shot, heartworm test, has been dewormed, examined by a vet etc. We will discuss full medical care provided with approved applicants. You will have to follow up with age-appropriate care.

Introducing Nova and her pups.

Our foster was able to help this family despite the holiday season. Let this photo be a reminder as to how important it is to spay and neuter. Sadly, so many never make it out of shelters.

We will announce when mom or pups are adoptable. They are way too young at this time and Nova has a job to do.

Adoptable Adorable! Ready for a forever home.

Willow arrived with her long tail wagging and was curious yet quite relaxed after her long trip to NJ. She rode to her foster home quietly and calmly in the car. After some exploring of her new surroundings, she settled in quickly, trying out the crate but ultimately opting for the couch next to the humans (after being invited up). It didn’t take her long to snuggle in and offer up her belly for a good rub.
Willow is quite calm and doesn’t fuss when left alone. She also appears to be housebroken and is quickly learning “sit” and “wait”. She has displayed a somewhat puppyish side with a tad of very gentle mouthing when having her belly rubbed, occasional violations of personal space in her displays of affection (in a sweet, gentle way in an effort to get closer) and bursts of toy play.
Willow is super sweet and affectionate but is also content being on her own.

Willow is a typical hound who loves to follow her nose. She needs to improve her leash skills which we are working on.
