Definition of a feral cat:
A feral cat is an unsocialized outdoor cat who has either never had any physical contact with humans, or human contact has diminished over enough time that he/she is no longer accustomed to it. Most feral cats are fearful of people and are not likely to ever become a lap cat or enjoy living indoors.

A feral cat is one that was trapped in a “live trap” (see image below for example of a live trap). A human cannot physically handle the feline in any way. This includes “luring” it into a regular cage or “petting it sometimes”.

If you bring a non-feral feline as a “walk-in” surgery, you will be kindly refused service for that day and asked to schedule the appointment as a routine surgery with a $40 deposit at the time of scheduling.

Feral cats MUST be in a “live trap” we will NOT accept collapsable cages, regular kennels, or any other non-live trap type of cage.

True feral walk-ins for surgery can only be accepted on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Thank you,
-Vetcare Staff

Both of them have an important reminder for you:

🔥 𝐇𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 = 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐰𝐬 🔥

It doesn’t have to feel that hot outside for your pet’s paws to get injured. Pavement, concrete, and other surfaces heat up fast — and they hold that heat.

𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?
🐾 Paw burns can happen in just 60 seconds on surfaces at 125°F or hotter.
🐾 On a sunny 85°F day, asphalt can reach 135°F — hot enough to fry an egg… and your dog’s paws.

𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐬 on an 85°F Day:
𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐭: about 135°F
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞: about 125°F
𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬: about 105°F
𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬: about 95°F

**𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭: Place the back of your hand on the ground for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐭:
Walk early mornings or late evenings
Use shaded routes and grassy areas
Consider protective booties for hot days

Let’s keep those paws healthy and burn-free this summer! 🐶🐾
