SOS Pets of Ouachita We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that spearheaded the effort to build a new Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter. Pls see that page to sign up!

We're now focusing our efforts to assist with NELA spay & neuter surgeries, through our "Spay Or Snip" program. SOS Pets of Ouachita seeks to raise tax-deductible private donations to construct a new shelter, to replace the existing 1950’s Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter facility. This facility remains in use today and has evolved into an open-admittance facility with an annual intake of ~6,000 ani

mals per year, serving multiple regional parishes, with minimal surrender fees per type of animal. In early 2017 after reports of newborn puppies freezing to death in the shelter, a group of private citizens formed the nonprofit organization, SOS (Save Our Shelter) Pets of Ouachita, with its primary goal of privately funding a new public shelter, to replace the existing facility. From an initial deposit of $1.00, today's cash, in-kind donations and pledged funds have grown to over $1M, with a median private contribution of $20. Due to overwhelming community support to build an all-new animal shelter at a new location instead of piecemealing at the existing undesirable location, the SOS Pets Board of Directors sought and secured 5 acres of donated land to build the new facility. Please help if you can! 100% of the proceeds go to the Shelter Fund. This is a labor of love, and all our time is donated to this cause.

3 Bridges spent the day with the Monroe Moccasins and Butch, the longest resident at the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter. He’s been at the shelter 5 months and still waiting to make somebody’s roster. 🐶🏒

We cannot express how much we miss one of our founding directors and friends, Rita Tucker. She was a fixture at every single event we ever hosted, especially Woofstock 25. Her dedication to our cause was unequaled, as was her love and concern for our innocent and suffering "critters" in Ouachita Parish. The void we feel without her after her sudden and unexpected passing last year is tangible and truly painful. She excelled at being a friend, and we were blessed to feel her genuine friendship and care. We know she's watching down on us and nudging us on from her perch in heaven. Please come and show respect to her, as the next recipient of the Rita Tucker Animal Advocacy Award is awarded to a very deserving person in our community. Rita, we love and miss you more than words can say.... We hope we're making you proud. Much love, from your friends at SOS Pets.

Rita was a very familiar face at Woofstock and such a huge help to us over the years. This was our way of honoring one of the champions in the rescue community.

Come see us Saturday 11/1 at Forsythe Park! We will have some fun things for sale AND will be sharing info on our FREE spay/neuter program, Spay Or Snip Our Pets Of Ouachita!

We will also be hosting the incredibly fun and entertaining Pet Pageant at 1pm, so be sure to come sign up at our tent in plenty of time!

Rita was a very familiar face at Woofstock and such a huge help to us over the years. This was our way of honoring one of the champions in the rescue community.
