Ok listen up!
Most of the time these babies DO NOT need your help!
Feral mom cats need to go find food for themselves, so they leave their kittens during the mornings and evenings to hunt for food. When they return and humans are handling their kittens, they are afraid of you, so they will stay away hidden until You Go Away!
Those kittens have Not been abandoned, and you take a chance on killing them if you remove them. If they’re not screaming in hunger, then mom fed them recently. We spend so much time explaining this to people who have stolen kittens from feral mom cats, then we have to help them keep the kittens alive, and it’s no easy task! You have to feed them every two hours around the clock and keep them very warm, help them go to the bathroom…
This will exhaust you within a few days but mom cat does this for five straight weeks before the kittens are able to eat from a dish by themselves.
So unless you have a plan, have a rescue that has promised to take them, or have mom cat trapped and housed comfortably in a crate to nurse those kittens… Please, Please, we beg you, don’t pick up baby kittens when you find them all alone. Go away, and you will find that mom takes those babies soon after you leave the area.
