This is the real Washington. Yakima County..oh the web you weave. Guys this is where at least 95% of my rescues come from and this also has a nasty reservation too! And they add to the problem. And BTW they have free to 10.00 spay neuter program. So no Excuses.
So I love my boys in blue but this is just not acceptable, although I understand where they are coming from because we ALL feel it, but rescues are not the answer at this time. We all can only do so much. LAWS,CODES AND FOLLOW UP IS THE ANSWER NOW.
But also if they want the community to help them then back them! If a community member has a neighbor call a complaint in, and they respond and see a clean environment, fed animals, healthy and vet records to show it they need to go talk to that neighbor and talk them down, because in fact neighbor, this person you called in is actually trying to help. And the sheriffs, aco, need to recognize that and back the community memeber and allow or make an exception for maybe up to say ex;10 dogs. As a matter of fact remember that council meeting we went too, yes an officer was there, and if I remember correctly they said they were committed to helping.
Counties and cities can vote in new codes and laws. Like no breeding without a license, just like how some cities make you register your dog through the courthouse, file their rabies tag etc. It can be done! Get your s**t together Yakima county..this money your forking out for stupid s**t like I think a water park.. come on!
Our Animal Control Officers handle stray dog calls on a daily basis. These calls are sometimes more difficult since our ACOs must advise residents in the County that we do not pick up stray dogs. Our office does not have a facility to house stray dogs, and we do not have a contract with the Yakima Humane Society to house stray dogs in the County. Therefore, the community members are left responsible for handling the dumped/stray dogs in the County, utilizing social media and the local and regional rescues. These rescues play a vital role in finding homes for these animals, and we appreciate their support.
We encourage citizens to contact our local animal rescues and support them. Your support is crucial in their efforts to continue to support our community. Please ask them what they need and how you can contribute to their cause.
