Our Boarding Clients get taken care of!!! All former board and train clients that return for boarding get obedience refresher training, walks and socialization, and of coarse it wouldn't be a luxury stay without some gym time on the treadmill! Here we have former board and trains "Toga", "Dakota", and "Georgia" enjoying some treadmill time, and some relaxing place stays/obedience.

Today we said goodbye to board and train "Ted". Ted is 6 month old male Mini Golden Doodle that has a lot of energy and didn't always know the right way to get attention from his family. Check out the videos of Teds last sessions with us, and his first session back home. Ted made amazing progress with us during our 3 week training program, and we were so proud to see him show off his new listening skills for his family today!

When teaching your dog obedience, it is very important to make sure you include a fair amount of distractions in your training such as different people or animals. Here we have little Phoebe practicing some basic obedience around her brother Snoopy the Beagle. This is called "Functional Obedience". Teaches your dog to function, and remain obedient in distracting, and sometimes even stressful environments. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just needs to be proofed and reliable. Giving frequent rewards during training can help set your dog up for success around these distractions, as it builds higher value for you (the handler) than the distraction.

It is important to train your dogs in many different settings, situations, and environments. This is what we call "Generalization". Here you have board and train Teddy practicing his place stay in the hardware store.

We have an excellent Basic Obedience Board And Train Program that teaches your dog how to remain focused and obedient both in home, and in public.

Teddy had fun learning how to use the treadmill today! Activities like this are great not just for exercise, but also for confidence. Dealing with something like a moving floor can be very challenging for a lot of dogs. Teddy was a bit nervous about it at first, but we got him going and now he's having fun on there. Nice work Ted!!!

Update on current board and train "Baxter". When Baxter first came to us it was very difficult to have him out in public, as he was very reactive just about everything and everyone. Now as we are coming to the end of his board and train program, it is so nice to see him finally have the confidence to walk in public with us knowing he will be safe as long as he keeps an ear open and listens to his handler. Its been a long road with this boy, and hard work is paying off!!! Great job Baxter!!!

Update on one of our current board and trains "Baxter". Baxter is doing a great job remaining calm and obedient around other dogs. Baxter can be a bit reactive to other dogs at times. When owning a dog who can react at random moments, it is important to keep them under control and make sure you know where they are and what the are doing. Using basic commands like recall, and place stay, can help keep your dog manageable and out of trouble.
