On Friday, 6/28/24, we will be open for regular hours, but will not have a doctor on staff that day. We will have technician appointments and medication pick ups. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience.

This week will be very hot and we want to remind pet parents that the heat can overpower your pet in less than an hour. Limit walks on hot asphalt and avoid hot cars. Make sure your pet has access to shade and water and has limited time outside.

The signs of heatstroke include:
Excessive panting
Reddened gums/mucous membranes
Tachycardia (fast heart rate)
Dehydration
Elevated temperature (104 F and above)
Vomiting (with or without blood)
Diarrhea (with or without blood)
Disorientation/stumbling
Weakness/collapse
Seizures/death

Dr Sweeney’s new buddy. Gryphon died 2/23. He’s filling big paws but after 8 hours he acts like he’s been here the whole time!
His owner passed away and he was in the “big house” for two months. Even likes the chipmunks; watches, doesn’t chase. Didn’t even chase the blue heron!
His prison name was Truman but he’s not getting that vibe.
He’s about ten years old and is in serious need of “bad breath correction”- he’ll be getting shiny choppers on Wednesday!

There are new CDC rules if you bring a dog into the United States effective August 1, 2024- even if you are from the US.
Example - traveling to Canada for a vacation and then coming back home to US.

We will be closed on Monday, April 8th for the solar eclipse. Although pets may only be mildly affected by the actual eclipse, they are more likely to be stressed during this time due to heavy gathering of people. Be sure to update your pets id tags and microchip information and to keep pets leashed or fenced in during parties. We will reopen on Tuesday, April 9th at 8am. Enjoy and stay safe!

We now collaborate with Board Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Nicholas Parente! This means that we have the ability to offer specialized services such as ultrasound and endoscopy in the comfort of our hospital in an efficient amount of time! This also helps alleviate the number of referrals to other hospitals and specialists which allows us to be intimately involved in your pet's diagnosis and care.

Since we are still under a travel ban and are expected to get more lake effect snow- we have decided that we will not reopen on Thursday. We will make a decision about Friday if the ban is lifted and staff can make it safely. Please stay safe and warm and we look forward to seeing everyone as soon as possible.

Update: our parking lot has been plowed! Our phones are on but can only accept messages which we will be checking. We will have staff there until 12pm for medication pickup. Thank you for your patience while we get through this! 🙏

We will have to close the hospital today- our plow person never came and our parking lot is impassable- we will have someone there to take phone calls- Again we are very sorry for the inconvenience

Due to inclement weather and travel bans- we have decided to close the hospital tomorrow, January 15th. The safety of our clients and staff is our primary concern. We plan to reopen on Tuesday, January 16th at 8am. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope everyone stays safe.
